Few small issues with my crd

Hey guys been awhile,

My crd sat for about 3 weeks and now it has a few small bugs that are bothering me.

1st one is the lights flicker at cruising speeds thanks to the decoupler pulley and its very annoying, I replaced it right before it sat and then again the other day still does it. Can I just delete this pulley for a regular pulley??

2nd it has a weird hiccup when idling, about every 8 sec sounds like it kinda misfires, bleed the air from filter head. Made no difference.

3rd is a dreaded Trans issue, hesitant/ hard shift from 2-3. Last July I replaced Tcm, solenoid pack, speed sensors and discovered it already the transgo kit installed in the valve body - no resistor tho. I removed that battling Trans issues the first time.

Just has a Eco tune and straight pipe for mods

Check connections at the battery and alternator and make sure everything's clean and tight.

A regular pulley is strongly advised against as it will overwork the tensioner. Flickering lights can be caused by a seized alternator decoupler pulley (among other things), but if your pulley did somehow manage to seize again after 3 weeks, that's really no different than having a regular pulley anyway.

I've tested the decoupler by removing the belt, grabbing the pulley tightly in my right hand, and twisting it back and forth with a pretty good amount of force. Each time I turned it clockwise, I could feel the internal spring tightening. Each time I turned it counterclockwise, I could feel the pulley sort of disconnect from the alternator for a moment and freewheel.

The flickering lights is the voltage regulator, not the pulley.

Easiest fix is to replae the whole alternator.

But you can replace the regulator. I did it. Its not too bad.
The regulator is behind the plastic cover on the back of the alternator.

Well that would make sense, didn't think that one threw..... Is it worth while to delete the decoupler pulley?? I had 2 fail in the past year

What brand decoupled? I've got 2yrs and 20k miles on a Brazilian import decoupler. Bought before finding out Littens. Is recommended.

You can't delete the decoupler, unless you like the idea of replacing the serpentine tensioner at more than twice the price.

As far as the decoupler, it should not fail just by sitting, unless it was already defective in the box. But being Mopar brand means nothing, they don't build anything, they buy from other suppliers. The best option is the Litens pulley.

Regarding the inconsistent idle, that is most likely your air conditioner condenser kicking on and off to lubricate the pump and seals. It will do this in any vent position except the completely-off position, even without the air conditioning switch turned on. It does it so the pump and seals don't dry out and fail. The frequency that it does it is absurd in my opinion. This can be disabled by modifying the position switch. There is a post on the forum somewhere that has a DIY walkthrough of how to perform the modification. You just want to make sure that you DO cycle the AC every once in awhile to prevent dry rot of the seals.

I thought when the switch is in the vertical position (bi-level arrows) that the compressor did not function.

Similar to my transmission shift problem, mine buzzes loudly and so I'm pretty sure it's the solenoid pack. Check transmission connections including grounds

The inconsistent idle I think might be the vicious heater, I watched the ac compressor cycle and it didn't cause a idle drop.

Ugh, I chased these wires for like a month last time. Maybe I'll just live with it till something breaks this time. TC is starting to shutter again anyway
