Just recorded my first mpgs post-surgery/lift: 16.5 around town.
Ouch!
To quote the great Walter Sobchak "This won't stand, Dude!"

Granted; that figure of 16.5mpg has been while enjoying 'launches' from red lights. After all this work, some fun is in order

I'm going to study the DIY flash threads before taking the eco-tune plunge. It would be very cool to be able to self-Flash from eco to power/tow modes as needed.

BAD IDEA. That is a "cheater chip" and you are as likely to blow your turbo with that, and take out your whole motor... As you are likely to gain 2mpg off of it.

Diablo sport doesn't list their prices on their website.
I don't like that sales method; just list your %#@& prices!
UPDATE: $281, Shipped.

$320 on amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001FC7N ... ref=plSrch

So, if there's an LJ thread exploring real-world results using the powerpuck vs DIY flash vs GDE, would somebody be kind enough to share that link?
Thanks

Do you have a laptop computer running some version of windows?
If not, you could probably find a really cheap used one on ebay, with windows XP (good enough), for about $100.
Then get the MPPS cable v13.02 for about $20.
Then download the appropriate tune for free.

The only hangup might be if the version of your ECU is not compatible with the ones available for download. Unfortunately you will never know that until you connect it with MPPS and read the stock tune file.

The problem with the Diablo puck is that all it does if fool the MAP sensor and rail pressure sensor. For some people this is good enough and provides the desired result.
But loading a custom edited tune file can provide many more features, such as deleting EGR trouble codes.

I dont think anyone has done a true comparison.
Some use the puck.
Some load a tune.
Some use both.
But few, if any, have ran their vehicles on a dyno and provided actual performance numbers.

Thanks, folks.

For now, I'll follow flash's lead and pick up a used XP laptop.
That remains my favorite windows OS, and HP pavilions in the millions lay gathering dust waiting for us nostalgic geezers to scoop them for a buck.

I did scope a thread somewhere saying:
- a 32bit XP laptop is necessary
- make sure your LJ has a North American ECU.

Looking forward to learning how to self-Flash.
Thanks again!
