I luv your wording "I would strongly advise against". I did not think of that. You are a diplomat.

I would not attempt dragging a chute with my 2x thats for sure.

If I go , I'd rather track behind a 4x4 with my tow strap. I've done the lonely beach stuck thing with only my come-along and a boat anchor. It sucks!

If you have a winch or come-along Don't forget the boat anchor because it really digs in for a good hold when there ain't no trees.

Hello, new memeber to the site. From Corpus Christi, used to fish Padre Island National Seashore (affectionately called PINS), on a daily basis. Now go there whenever I get the chance. Drove PINS last weekend in a totally stock KJ, no problems, beach was looking smooth as a baby's bum. Love surf fishing. With mixed feelings will be moving to Commerce TX, near Dallas in few weeks to attend Texas A&M. Will travel to PINS as often as I can, Spring Break, Summers, Xmas, etc. Probaly move back when finished with college in a couple of years. Any questions you may have about PINS just ask, be glad to help. Going to try and make it in October but this is normally around mid-terms for colleges.

Dan

Welcome to the site Dan. Make sure you check out www.lonestarlost.com. We hope you can make in Oct. We will be meeting at Lake Travis in two weeks, Aug. 26, 27, 28. Maybe you can make it. I will be going to PINS in Sept. the weekend after Labor Day. I love surf fishing to. I'am thinking about entering SHARKATHON 2005. It's going to be the same weekend I will be their.

Bill,

Copied from another site.

The new dates for the sharkathon tournament are Sept 9th-11th. The park made us change from the 16th-18th because of two functions they were having that weekend. Once again the new dates are Sept 9th-11th. Go to www.sharkathon.com to register as a memeber and check back in a few weeks to sign up for the tournament. Good luck to all that enter.

Guess we can't be bad of people drive a KJ and Surfishing...well throw a beer or two or three, that would make us the best people.

Have yet to get a hitch put on the front of the KJ to carry ice chest, tackle box and poles. Last year caught a Bull Shark from the seashore 185lbs of pure muscle, I beat it, landed it, took pics, released it. Man was I sore for awhile after that, every muscle in my body hurt. Heard somebody caught a 850lbs Tiger a couple of weeks ago. A friend caught a Mako (OZ is what he goes by) about a year and half ago. I Can't make this year though.

Dan

Sounds good PitViper. We all hope you can make it the more the merry. Beach BBQ sound great. I have a small charcoal pit that I'am taking with me. I will be camping on the beach too. It looks like some of the guys are going in to Corpus on Saturday night for dinner and drinks, I will be staying on the beach all weekend.

I say let them come. I've been wanting to put a "Toyota Recovery Team" sticker on my KJ! :D

Seriously though, it'd be cool to meet and hang out with other off-road people.

On a whim my wife and I drove down to Corpus on Sunday night and then drove 25 miles down PINS on Monday morning. The weather was great and the drive was easy. It was actually a little too easy, but I think that's because it's the end of the summer and there has been quite a bit of traffic out there for the past few months. By the time October rolls around the sand should have softened back up a little to make for some more interesting driving.

I also got to try out my onboard air system for the first time and it worked pretty well. I have a small leak I need to hunt down, and right as I finished the hose from the compressor popped off the fitting (I blame that on the cheap hose clamp I used,) but it only took about a minute or two longer than it would at a gas station to fill up the tires from 22 to 35 psi.

I'm a millwright... I work at a plant that makes plastics.

For those who do not know what a millright is.

A millwright is someone who maintains or constructs industrial machinery such as that which would be related to assembly lines, also pumps, valves, printing presses, etc. (Basiclly anything that has moving parts)

And I found out I do have the pager that week. Maybe I can swap week with somone.
