Bill, Set the cruise control to just under the speed limit so you eliminate the stress of speeding and anger at slow drivers (unless they are below the speed limit also).

Some of the guys are working on a planned trip to reconnoiter the area and trails.

Actually I drive about 62 on the highway because I am driving a 31' motorhome. It gets 8 MPG at that speed an I am sure it would be worse at 75 (the speed limit in New Mexico).

My present problem is my hands. They have been "asleep" ever since I got our of the hospital in February. Physical therapy didn't help and now the Ortodpedic doctor says it may be like Carper Tunnel Syndrome since they had my hads tied to the bed rails for about 8 days to restrain me. Apparently I kept trying to pull the breathing tube out of my mouth and was kicking the end of the hospital bed pretty hard. I don't remember any of it since they had me on morphine for that time. I don't know how anyone could take morphine "for fun", that was one of the worst experiences I have ever had.

Did I mention my hernia on my chest? I'll skip that story for now and just keep a big stretchy thing around my chest while offroading to contain that.

Update on plans: We (my 14 year old grandson and I) will leave on July 19 and will take 4 days to get there. I want to spend 2 nights in Chama, New Mexico and take him on the train ride from Antonito, CO to Chama, NM http://www.cumbrestoltec.com/ It is a great trip and will probably be the only time in his life he will get to ride on an 1880's train pulled by a steam engine.

I just returned from the Ouray area. All passes are open except for Imogene, according to the visitors center.

I did Ophr and Engineer. Both are do-able with a stock Liberty as long as you have skids. The views are great!!! I also went to the Crystal Mill near Marble. Schofield Pass is still closed but you can get to the mill. It is a rocky ride!!

Well, I just fot my leave set for 30 Aug-15Sep. It is the only leave left open for me to take, and it will coincide with my school schedule, not the kids, but mine anyway...

So anytime in that range would be good for me. We need to set a date to find campground or hotel reservations.
