This may of already been covered, but why are you all not getting them from the same place eddo did. Much cheaper I think at $36 for the steel one.

He had to machine that one to fit. It is my understanding this one will fit without having to machine it. So either $36 + machine or $52 without having to deal with the trouble of machining to get the right diameter.

Well, I can understand the price difference when needing to machine it, but he said he used a piece of sand paper. I would think that would be fine if you didnt sand off to much.

I'm in on a group buy. Why did someone think we needed two?

Also, perhaps part of the reason this is happening is due to build tolerances.

My front diff bearings went at around 25k. The dealer rebuilt the front end under warranty (took 3 weeks !). The mechanic told me the tolerances were set way off from factory. So, not knowing exactly which tolerances he was referring to, perhaps if there's too much play in several units out there, this is the root of our evil. What do you think? It's like giving a running start to the parts inside.

Anyway, group buy? How much!

I'm in as well.

I was thinking two would be needed because I was thinking on a SFA mindset, not IFS. I didn't realize there was only one input shaft. Sorry to create confusion.

I don't know what happened to the group buy, but I did purchase one from McMaster-Carr. Spun out the inside diameter on a lathe at work.

I was looking for a discount rate. I tried working with Ruland Co. they were not interested unless I could by large numbers and distribute them. However they will sell to an individual but suggested I try McMaster as they are near me. And a distributor. I also tried to work with McMaster and they didn't want to hear it. Ruland makes them and the specs are;

PART Bore Outer Forged
NUMBER Diameter Width Clamp
STEEL screw
SP-57-F 3.5625 5 0.875 3/8-24X1 1/4

They don't need to be machinded because they are the proper size.

No machining would be great. Thanks for the link and info. I'll ping Ruland and see about getting that part.

Do we still have a bunch of folks looking for these?

I called a local shop that was listed as a dealer on the website provided earlier. He didn't have that size but is going to check around and get back to me.

Can we have a sound off on who's bought what size and where for how much?

sounds like a group buy is the way to go based on those prices!

Do you need to register to see the price?

Is there a price break for volume orders?

I called a local dealer and he can get the Stafford parts with ID of 3 9/16" for $67.50 each with a minumum order of 10. $75 for 3 or more.

He'll even ship them each directly to your respective addresses for additional shipping charges.

The shop is in Farmingdale, NY here on Long Island. The contact there is John. The info is filed under my name, Adam Rosenfeld.

fax 293-8271

Let's organize this and give it a whirl. What do you think? If you're interested, I'll post a new thread under group buys or something. Do we still have a group buy area?
