Tools needed to install Frankenlift

Hey guys and gals, I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind listing the essential tools needed to install a Frankenlift. I really don't have any so I was wondering what I would need. What are the bare minimum? I can't wait, it should be here Friday.

I don't have a Frankenlift, or ever installed one.. but I know you need ratchet straps...

and a 30 pack... 1 buff friend...

actually on second thought.. you need Mutt.., not that he is a tool.... but he has been modding things left and right.. and has been posting cool pics of the stuff he has been working on.... good stuff

It would be nice to have someone like Mutt around but I'm pretty far from any LOST members. Hey Mutt wanna come to wonderful Laredo, TX where the avg summer temp is 105-110 :twisted:

I installed my own Frankenlift with the help of one friend. It was a full afternoon's work.

I have an '05 Sport and I used the following tools:

1/2" drive torque wrench
1/2" drive 36mm deep socket
metric 1/2" drive sockets and wrenches(10mm,13mm,18mm,21mm,24mm)
electric drill with 3/8" drill bit
pry bar
wire cutters
various floor jacks/stands

no straps were used on my install....hope that helps

I'd love to come to Laredo. My brother lives in San Antonio and my sister in Austin. Knock out a lift and off to visit family.

The ratchet strap greatly eases the realignment of the clevis. Wrap it around the clevis and attach to the skid plate. then ratchet until it lines up. Trust me, it beats the wrestling match with the prybar.

Oh yeah, my wifes grandfather claims to be from Laredo.....but we strongly suspect that he's from Nuevo Laredo.

Don't need one, Frankenlift struts come with springs installed on the struts.

Don't know what you would need a 36mm (while I think it's a 35mm, but you still don't need it) or a 24mm either.

10 mm deep socket 1/4"drive cruse control mod
13 mm socket 1/4" drive battery tray nuts (3)
3/4 deep socket 1/2" drive wheels
15mm socket 1/2" drive top rear shocks
18 mm deep 1/2" drive sway bar end links and top plate nuts
21 mm deep 1/2" drive upper ball joint nut, upper and lower clevis bolt
15 mm and 18 mm wrench lower rear shock mount
BIG pry bar
hammer
long pointed punch or pry bar with punch end
torque wrench

You don't need one for the rear? I know its not a coil over design like the front but it would help to get the spring out, right?

Once you take the shocks off the stock rear spring will just about fall out. Or take your jack and raise the opposing side of the rearend (axle).

It was kinda hard getting them back in, but a good kick with my shoe and it was in there.

I had to use a prybar to get my rear springs in even with the sway bar off and the opposite end jacked as high as it would go. But it's not that tough with a prybar and beats a trip to autozone to borrow the spring compressor.

I just stood on mine while Eddo put it in. pictures in MidWest under Dayton Frankenlift Party...

Huh, I did something VERY stupid when putting mine in. I used the stock jack to spread it open which is ok to do and is what most people do when you dont have a moose to stand on the rotor. The stupid part, I forgot the jack was in there and jacked up my jeep by the axle to take the jack stand out, thats when I heard the stock jack fall out and it looked like someone had ran over it... :lol:

poor little thing, it didnt have a chance. :lol:

darn Jeepster, using the bottle jack is a good idea. I wish I'd thought of that since I didn't have anyone to stand on the axle that would have been easier than the prybar.
