I guess I can't find ANY info on this..is it possible? Short of third party entire new security system. You can't hack the BCM or how does it work with these jeeps? All my vehicles offer this its nice in hot Texas summers!

Thx

The power window switches are supplied power via a relay in the junction block that is activated on key positions acc and run only. I suppose you could bypass that somehow to supply always-on power, but then you are left with figuring out how to remotely control or bypass the analog switches.

Interesting. So no BCM type of control.

Thx

I'm not 100% certain about that, as there does appear to at least be some form of rudimentary (presumably) BCM interaction with the windows. Here's what makes me think this:

If you turn the vehicle off and remove the key after driving it, but do not open the doors, you can still roll the windows up and down. However, as soon as you open a door, the ability to do this ends and you'll need to use the key to get power to the windows, other accessories, etc.

Now, if you're rolling the windows up or down after turning the vehicle off and open a door while the window in it is in motion, the window will stop moving and you'll need to use the key to get power to things again.

What makes me think that the BCM has some level of control over the windows is that something needs to be aware of the fact that the window is in motion in order to cut power to it when a door is opened. How much control it may or may not be capable of is something of an unknown, but given that the BCM is aware of which doors are open or closed, it seems reasonable to suspect that there may also be some form of control logic for the windows within in it.

Having said that, this behaviour may be something controlled by the window switch module. Take a look at this post from a couple of years ago; photos of the switch module show what I believe to be microcontrollers on the module's PCB, so it may have the necessary brains to handle the task, though I suspect it would still need to get door open / closed states from the BCM to do so.

One last note: at one time, I had a 2004 Crossfire. It had virtually the same window behaviour as the KJ, so this may be something common to Chrysler products of the era.

casm, totally concur with your assessment of the BCM being involved.
If you look at the WD's there is a lot of control side circuits that come from or go through the BCM to control various power relays.
There is more going on here than simple on/off switches. Unfortunately the FSM is not real clear or detailed in it's information on the control side circuits of the relays. :banghead:

As I have stated in the past, a simple control "logic" diagram for this vehicle would be godsend to those of us who try to diagnose problems and understand the hows and the whys of certain operating and control parameters. :5SHOTS:

Fascinating. Thanks for the responses and ideas ! I’m not interested in redesigning Crysler circuits but if there was easy way I would.
