It finally happened: Scanner says cam sensor faulty. Towing my 13' travel trailer. Sunday 2:30pm ..near Hemlock NY. Was on my way to the west coast for 6 months. Any suggestions? Already tried local towing services. Long shot: any Lost Jeeps in the area that may have some info??

Did the engine just suddenly quit running?
Is it completely not drivable?

If it is the cam sensor, it’s easy to replace.
The problem is finding a local parts store with one in stock.

Sometimes these sensors start acting up when they get hot.
So maybe once things cool down it will start up and move on it’s own.
But you likely won’t make it far.

You will also get a cam sensor code if your timing belt breaks. When was the belt last changed?

Confirmed the timing belt broke. I'm about 1 hr from home. Sorting out how to get it home. Need to talk about a mobile lost Jeep mechanic. I live in Rochester NY. Help please!

So now I need a Mobile Mechanic to deal with fixing it... hopefully. Don't know the full extent of the collateral damage, but need to talk to him on how to assess futher.

I think they are referring to Geordi, who does timing belts on the road. Not sure how soon he can get to you. At least you have your camper...

You can send an message or an email through this forum. I’m surprised he hasn’t seen this thread and stepped in, but I will alert him.

Hope that helps.
You should also follow up on WWDiesel's suggestion of a contact. To the best of my knowledge he has never given bad advice.

Towed the Jeep back to Rochester. I've been contacted by Josh (didn't say his user name on LJ). Would that be geordi? Indicated it could be quite a while before he could get to it. Limited correspondence for some reason??? Trying to get this done before weather becomes an issue.

Any other mobile mechanics I could contact?

I only know him as Geordi, so I can’t say if that’s Josh. I’m not aware of any other traveling mechanics, sorry.

Hey, sorry I didn't see this post before - and as a second bit of not great news, the email you sent did NOT get to me, so there may be something wrong with that area of the board now too.

I'm Jim, Josh is not me, he also works on these but doesn't have as flexible a schedule or range as I do. I'll try emailing you directly from the board, but you can also call me: 561-245-1563.

I do have the ability to get up to you and was already planning a trip to the NY area in the near future - BUT there is a small delay b/c I'm having eye surgery on Monday and they need to see me next Monday for a follow-up. BUT I was planning to be up there shortly after that, around the 14th. I can get you back on the road with just one day of work though, I know exactly what the engine needs from your description - but we can confirm everything once we are talking.
