Hey all,

Writing this as I sit on the side of the highway waiting for a tow.

Today was my maiden voyage to for some fun in the bush with my 2005 Liberty CRD.
After doing the timing belt, glow plugs, water pump, tune, fixing under boost issues I thought I’d be good…Not so much.

Today I found out about the ASD relay.
With that said, what common fail parts should I have handy on my next trip into forest service roads?

Thanks

Its always good to have a spare relay or 2.
You should also have a decent jack. The standard one is useless when up a rough track.
A decent tow rope is good if you dont have a winch.
Coolant brake fluid, trans fluid, power steering fluid, engine oil.
shovel.
Drinking water.
Decent first aid kit.
Wire & electrical tape.

Others can add to the list.

When I go out I bring:

Basic Tool Kit
Recovery gear (tow strap, shackles, kinetic rope)
Electrical kit (Fuses, relays, wire, wire connections, electrical tape)
Zip Ties
Rachet straps
Safety wire
Duct tape
Flashlight
GMRS radio or CB radio
Extra batteries (radio, cell phone battery pack)
Water/Trail food
Blanket/Rags
Jack with dunnage (2x4s or 2x6s)
Spare U-joint
Small air compressor
First aid kit
CRD specific stuff (crank sensor)

I can usually cram all that into some old ammo cans or milk crates and strap them behind the seats or in the cargo area. One of these days I'll find someone to build me an offroad rear bumper like the old Rock Lizzard bumpers with a 2 swing outs (1 for spare tire and 1 for jack/ammo can/fuel container).

Before I leave base camp, I make sure that all my fluids are topped off, and do a safety check on the jeep to see if anything is questionable that might break while on the trail. :JEEPIN:
