Hey all,

Looking for solenoid 04606226AC in an attempt to fix my over boost problem.
Most suppliers are back ordered so I was hoping if anyone knows if other car makes/models have the same valve? maybe GM with their 2.8 or 3.0L CRD?

If not, and I have to wait if this valve to come back in stock, could I bypass the solenoid valve indefinitely?

Granted I don't know if this is causing the over boost but I was hoping to change it out at the same time as the MAP and CCV (on order)

A bad vacuum solenoid won't cause overboost issues, only underboost ones. What DTC code are you getting?
But the modulator valve, PN 52109543AA, could cause overboost, but it would be very unusual, it too usually only causes underboost problems.

The most likely culprit is the MAP sensor or sticking turbo vanes. The vanes can be lubricated and exercised manually using some good penetrating oil.
Just be sure and disconnect the vacuum hose to the vane actuator when you manually stroke them.

Try changing the MAP sensor and see if it fixes your problem.
Use the GM MAP sensor GM 55206797, or New GM PN; 55568175. IDParts sales them and also available online from Amazon and several GM parts vendors.
:google: the part number!
Much cheaper than the OEM sensor and it works perfect.

You are correct.
After making this post I did some research.

In any case I figured I'd replace it along with the MAP and intercooler pipes that are currently being shipped to me.
Ill be deleting the EGR and replacing pragmatic sensors all in one go.

Oh my. The EGR and Flow Control Valve should have been removed a long time ago. Of course you need a block-off as well.

Overboost is back!
P0234

Egr deleted
Yeti tune
New upper intercooler (charge) pipe
New map sensor
Turbo vanes a free

Code went an away for a good bit but now it’s back.

What should I check/replace next?

Is it putting the engine into a "Limp" mode?
What brand, part number MAP Sensor did you install?

In order to receive this DTC, the ECM is seeing a boost pressure higher than the limits set for it in the coding.
(The ECM controls Turbo Boost based on tables in the software and input/feedback from various sensors)
Quote:
P0234 -- Engine boost condition – limit exceeded

This means the MAP Sensor is reporting a boost pressure higher than the limits allowed to the ECM
Possible Causes:
-- Faulty MAP Sensor
-- Faulty Turbo Vane control Modulator Valve
-- Turbo Vanes sticking
-- Problem with tune

Thanks,

I got the map sensor from IDparts. It’s the proper Bosch unit

-Yes it goes into limp mode
-Yetis tune was working great without issues for a solid month. No smoke. Then till other issues came up (check my other threads) so I don’t think it’s his tune
-I’ll check the vanes again when I do the serp belt but when I checked two months ago everything seemed fine.
-is there a test a can do on the modulator to confirm if it’s faulty?

Connecting a mechanical boost gauge may help tell you what the actual boost is.
Reading the peak boost pressure with a scanner and comparing it with actual boost on a mechanical gauge would tell you what the ECM is seeing from the MAP sensor.
You could have a bad MAP sensor, it does happen.
I would try another MAP sensor, you can use the GM MAP sensor as it is much less costly than the OEM unit.

BOSCH 0 281 002 845= GM PN: 55206797 New GM PN: 55568175 :google:

You might need to take the turbo off and apart to check the vanes. I had to with mine and found that it was so sooted up that the vanes would stick. Its not hard to do, the exhaust section is held by 3 bolts and the turbo splits apart to reveal the vanes.

Job is a bit time consuming and as long if you dont remove the center cartridge you wont need to have the turbo rebalance.
