Is anyone interested in doing some 4 wheeling over the 4th of July weekend? I would love to meet some of the other LOST Rockies members for some wheeling, camping, beer and dogs. Any takers? I live in Colorado Springs but am willing to travel as far as Ouray if others are interested.

Actually, you're in luck. There's already a group headed up to Ouray that weekend (tentatively). Rock Lizard (Marty) or USAFCOP (Ted) can probably fill you in.

Ted and I were planning to go, but a few of the guys that were interested in joining us couldn't go after all, so Ted and I decided to do something closer to home. I already PMed Kevin, but I'll do a little post here. As discussed in another thread, we would have two scheduled trail runs a month on the second and fourth weekend of each month, with the fourth weekend being our monthly meeting and stocker friendly trail run. The second weekend run would be a little more on the wild side, so armor and lift or good insurance will be needed. Anyways, the weekend right before July 4th, July 2nd most likely, Ted and I will be running either Iron Chest up to Grizzly Lake, or Old Chinamans Gulch, but real good possibility of Iron Chest/Grizzly Lake. If enough people are interested in hitting a challenging trail that weekend with us, but don't feel up to Iron Chest, then we'll do Old Chinamans Gulch.

Since Kevin already started this Fourth of July trail run thread, how about we get a list going of all that can do a trail run and date preferred: July 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, and if you will or will not wheel Iron Chest. Iron Chest will give your armor a serious work out, but it is a short trail that is a big rock garden, not much of that loose steep dirt stuff like Eagle Rock.

I prefer the 2nd, but can do any of those three dates.
According to Ted's schedule, he is off the 1st and 2nd, but I'll let him confirm best dates.

I am up for any trail, and the first or second will work for me although I would prefer the second, as I will most likely be more willing to get up early on my last day off versus the second, that and I may have a promotion party/BBQ on the first as I will finally be pinning on my new rank effective on the 1st... Really sucks, earning it then having to wait a year to put it on!

SO why not set a date of 2 July.

And if any of you want to come to a BBQ, just let me know. I will be trying to get a new grill this weekend...

I haven't done iron chest. Is that a liberty with 3" or a cherokee on 35s run?

I'd love to go and will do so if I can, but first I need to fix my 4x4 problem first. Hopefully I can get the dealer to fix it under warrantee without any BS and then move on to getting Marty's Skink Sliders. I need those bad?

Marty, please check your PMs regarding my message about your sliders.

Anyone still in for Sunday, July 2nd? Where do we want to go? Chinamans Gulch? Iron Chest/Grizzly Lake if we are feeling brave? All of those are real close to eachother out by Johnson Village and Buena Vista.

Hey all, I would really like to make my first LOST Rockies trip soon. I was wondering if this weekend might be a little over my head though. The side bars are off, but no armour as of yet. Probably should wait until later in the month for an easier intro?

So you have no armor, whatsoever? Not even stock skid plates? What about tow points?

Nope, no armour, no tow points. Saving up for them, but the wheel, tire, lift combo tapped me out for awhile. Should be ready to go by the end of July, however. Sounds like the club goes "easy" on our KJ's around the last weekend of the month?

Yeah, this July 2nd run is planned to be at Old Chinamans Gulch, which I don't believe to be stocker or armorless friendly. China Wall was definately stocker/armorless friendly because there were bypasses to everything. This weekend isn't part of the normal monthly trail routine as it falls on the first weekend instead of the second or fourth weekend. If it were a larger more diverse group, then a trail change would be easy. The last weekend trail run/meeting is more stocker friendly, and I will get that July post going here pretty soon.

Since it is Monday, that gives the week for everyone to figure out if they are in for this coming Sunday or not. Right now the plan is for Old Chinamans' Gulch, but depending on the list of who wants to go, we can certainly try a different trail.

Joel, you still in? You're all armored up, you'll be fine for Chinaman's.
Damo252, I know you've got the hardware for it, you still interested?
Even if we drive off a cliff, Ted's in. He's having withdrawals.
Anyone want to go, just to go and check it out? Just leave your jeep at the trail head and ride with someone. Never hurts to go for a ride along to atleast know what a new trail is all about then it would be easier to determine if your rig is capable to handle it the next trip. We could always use more spotters and photographers.

Would anyone be interested is something a lot closer to Denver? I was invited by my friend Matt, co-owner of TNT Customs to join him on Spring Creek Trail. It is about the same difficulty as Chinaman's Gulch, maybe a little less, but it is much easier to get too since it is right off I-70 at Downieville (5 minutes west of Idaho Springs). Chinamans' Gulch is about half and hour further from Colorado Springs than Spring Creek just because of the winding mountain roads. I think it would be a good thing to have some anxious KJ guys to wheel with Matt to show a great deal of interest in a new KJ lift kit. TNT Customs has the best long arm kit for Jeep Cherokees on the market to date, and I will be running there long arm kit very soon on my own XJ, and just need to finish up my application to be a dealer for their products. I'm telling you, if TNT did an SFA kit for the KJ, it will be the sickest thing out there.

So, anymore interest on this trail run Sunday?

Spring Creek is fun. We did it late last year.....or was that early this year? I think it was in the Fall. Whatever happened to wine girl?

I am up for anything for Sunday. Make a decision> I want to do a camping trip to the trail area and then meet everyone at the trailhead.
