I lost my ignition key. I’ve got the second key, so no problem but I don’t like not having a spare. The valet key stopped working years ago, so I have just the one.

I’m sure the dealer is expensive. What’s the best place to get another key that is reliable?

Thanks.

I got mine from a locksmith. You will need the key code and pin. When I got mine the stealership was giving me a hard time something about corp said not to give the code and pin out anymore. I told them they could give me the info of I was going to file a complaint with the AG. Had do go down with the title and my DL.

Thanks. Hard to believe they have made it so hard just to get a car key. I’d be perfectly happy to have an old fashioned ignition switch and key. And I know the new cars with the keyless starts are even more expensive to replace.

You can purchase a spare key and have it programed by a dealer or any good certified locksmith.
Once you have TWO valid keys, you can use the self program feature to program a third key yourself. See below:

Thanks VWDiesel. I see keys for sale on eBay and Amazon, pretty cheap. Do you know if they are any good?

BTWI found the missing key, so my question is mostly academic now. But if I can really get a new key that works for 10 bucks, I might as well.

Several years ago, I purchased my spare key fobs off Amazon and they programed and worked perfect. I am still using one of them to this day.... :D

How did you cut the key for the lock? Take it to a locksmith?

I took the new blanks to a local hardware store, they had a key machine and cut the keys for me.
I then programed the chip using the method I posted above. :D
