Hi Sir Sam looked on the parts fiche at a dealership and it only showed the part numbers for the normal rails. Struggling here and have already payed out £90 for 4 caps that are incorrect and dealership will not allow to be returned. Dont carry much weight up there just a couple of cycle racks, just wanted to update the look a little , wanted the aluminium standard rails found pn later model kj's but came across renie bars . Thanks .
Jimmy, go into the noob guide, look at the link to the FSM and parts fiches, and then download a parts fiche.
After you have done that search the PDF for keywords such as "cargo rack" "roof rack" "luggage rack" or "rack".
(protip, "luggage rack" on page 550 of the 05 parts fiche has the part numbers you want. There are two possibilities, for the parts, trim line MW1/MWE or trim line MWZ.
So we now have the part numbers, with a 50/50 chance of guessing right.
Now using a bit of deductive logic I can safely guess which part number you need;
There are three trim lines, Sport, Limited, and Renegade. Each has a different roof rack setup. The Sport/Limited shares the same end caps but a different center rail(silver vs black). The Renegade has a different rail and a different cap.
So MW1 and MWE are listed as having the same end cap, and MWZ is listed as having a different end cap than that.
So we know that MW1/MWE trim use one of the caps, and we know MWZ uses the other. So its fair to guess that the cap you want for the renengade is MWZ.
But wait there's more! Since you just ordered 1 cap that was wrong and its a 50/50% chance by looking at the bag and seeing which part number is wrong we can double check and see if the MWZ part number is NOT the part you already ordered.
So then I take the suspected part number and put it in online.....and ~22USD.......so if you really really wanted to be sure you could order one online to a member in the US to make sure it was the right one.
Also keep in mind that I can order parts at -25% of list price in the US, and then ship them overseas to fellow Jeep owners.
So Jimmy, no offense, I've told you exactly how to fish, even landed the fish on your hook, but you gotta reel it in now. So don't no one go calling me a fishgiver.
