Because that's what my parents bought for my brothers and I. Don't get me wrong, it's a great little truck and I like it a lot, but if I were given a choice between a new KJ like mine and a one or two year old a4 or 3 series I would take the car.

well unfortunately the A4 (2.8, 1.8T, 2.0T, and 3.0) or ANY of the 3 series (including the M3) aren't exactly pavement scorchers either. All of them, except for the M3 and S4 are pretty much entry level models and suffer from the i just want the car for the name badge (BMW/AUDI) symbol. I love my KJ, but i also come from a tuner background where i have driven everything from 11 second drag cars to full out cicruit cars... and let me tell you hunting yuppies rolling their glorified econo cars is one of my favorite passtimes. That's why i kept my track/street car for fun, and the KJ for wheelin and everday. Before i start gettin flamed about "OHH WHAT DO YOU DRIVE THERE SUPERSTAR!?"... Yea i drive a civic as my "toy", and guess what... blowing the doors off of high end exotics and other expensive cars never gets old, especially when you see the yuppies face who's drivin it!

Well I definately wouldn't consider a stock A4 or 330 a rocket in any sense of the word, but I would definately see significant increases in speed and acceleration over the kj and handling would be in a completely different league. Factor in the fact that both of those cars are many levels above the kj in terms of interior quality and it adds up to a car I would prefer.
I'm definately not going to flame you (everyone has their "automotive preference") and I don't doubt that a modified civic can smoke a lot of stock "yuppie cars," but I highly doubt that any civic (short of an actual race car that is basically not even a civic anymore) could beat a 911, F430, Gallardo or any other car that would actually be considered an "exotic." (By no means is any 3 series, or "4" series audi an exotic)
To put things in perspective; we used to have an s2000, so I know about japanese sports cars (not tuning them, but I've at least had some experience), and that was a lot of fun. I'm not looking to get a car that will blow away any thing I pull up next to. Quite frankly, I don't anticipate racing anyone in it. I'll be going to college next year and my insurance rates are already borderline rediclious - the last thing I need is to have my license revoked for racing.
Yeah I would prefer an entry level bmw over a high end civic (although the new civics are actually pretty nice) simply because of the name - but in reality, thats the same situation a lot of kj owners are in (like it or not). They would much rather drive a Jeep than a CRV or Rav 4. They have the same opinionated disadvantages to the jeep that a civic or camry would have to an a4 or 3 series.
Also, I do plan on modifying any car (should I happen to get one), so it will more than likely end up being quicker than stock.
To each his own, but god I hope your civic is a sleeper and isn't painted neon green with a 2 foot wing on the back
