Because that's what my parents bought for my brothers and I. Don't get me wrong, it's a great little truck and I like it a lot, but if I were given a choice between a new KJ like mine and a one or two year old a4 or 3 series I would take the car.

well unfortunately the A4 (2.8, 1.8T, 2.0T, and 3.0) or ANY of the 3 series (including the M3) aren't exactly pavement scorchers either. All of them, except for the M3 and S4 are pretty much entry level models and suffer from the i just want the car for the name badge (BMW/AUDI) symbol. I love my KJ, but i also come from a tuner background where i have driven everything from 11 second drag cars to full out cicruit cars... and let me tell you hunting yuppies rolling their glorified econo cars is one of my favorite passtimes. That's why i kept my track/street car for fun, and the KJ for wheelin and everday. Before i start gettin flamed about "OHH WHAT DO YOU DRIVE THERE SUPERSTAR!?"... Yea i drive a civic as my "toy", and guess what... blowing the doors off of high end exotics and other expensive cars never gets old, especially when you see the yuppies face who's drivin it!

Well I definately wouldn't consider a stock A4 or 330 a rocket in any sense of the word, but I would definately see significant increases in speed and acceleration over the kj and handling would be in a completely different league. Factor in the fact that both of those cars are many levels above the kj in terms of interior quality and it adds up to a car I would prefer.

I'm definately not going to flame you (everyone has their "automotive preference") and I don't doubt that a modified civic can smoke a lot of stock "yuppie cars," but I highly doubt that any civic (short of an actual race car that is basically not even a civic anymore) could beat a 911, F430, Gallardo or any other car that would actually be considered an "exotic." (By no means is any 3 series, or "4" series audi an exotic)

To put things in perspective; we used to have an s2000, so I know about japanese sports cars (not tuning them, but I've at least had some experience), and that was a lot of fun. I'm not looking to get a car that will blow away any thing I pull up next to. Quite frankly, I don't anticipate racing anyone in it. I'll be going to college next year and my insurance rates are already borderline rediclious - the last thing I need is to have my license revoked for racing.

Yeah I would prefer an entry level bmw over a high end civic (although the new civics are actually pretty nice) simply because of the name - but in reality, thats the same situation a lot of kj owners are in (like it or not). They would much rather drive a Jeep than a CRV or Rav 4. They have the same opinionated disadvantages to the jeep that a civic or camry would have to an a4 or 3 series.

Also, I do plan on modifying any car (should I happen to get one), so it will more than likely end up being quicker than stock.

To each his own, but god I hope your civic is a sleeper and isn't painted neon green with a 2 foot wing on the back  .

Oh and to add something on a more "off topic" note: yuppies belong to my parents generation, and my town is filled with them. You must be hard pressed finding one that will race you, regardless of what they drive

actually the audi A4 with the 1.8T is alot quicker then you think stock!! put about $6000 in it, chip, headers, CAI, exhaust and you will have a super quick car. Another $2000 to upgrade the stock turbo to a T3/T4 turbo and your car will decimate most!!!

Now don't get me wrong, i don't think the A4 even with the mods i listed above could beat ferraris, lambos, or even the super sweet TTsupra, but it could surprise cars like mustangs, camaros, corvettes, porsches, on top of raping most the regular imports!!

NEVERMIND THE STUFF ABOVE BECAUSE BY THE TIME YOU FINISH MODDING THE A4, YOU COULD PROBABLY BY A FREAKIN FERRARI!!!! READ THE NEXT POST FROM A GUY THAT OBVIOUSLY KNOWS MORE THAN THE ME!!

Just $.02 from a guy who used to drive a jetta GLi with the same 1.8T they put into the Audi A4's, i had the chip, CAI, exhaust

I actually had a MK4 GTi 337 20Vturbo VW... I had a GT35R and full AEM EMS standalone setup... on a side note there are no "headers" on a turbo car, just a manifold and a down pipe. The Super quick car you speak of would run mid 14's all day... and there is no T3/T4 turbo flanged to mate to the stock AWP/AWD manifold. You would have to replace the manifold, downpipe, change to an external blowoffvalve (not a diverter valve), and run an external wastegate. In order to make power with it you still need to change the entire fuelin set up. Youwould need 750CC injectors, Wlabro fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, honed fuel rail, a return line fuel setup. Not only that, but some sort of management like AEM EMS or HKS F-con v-pro, due to the new parameter placed on the fuel system and engine sensors. You would also need to adjust to a 3-bar mass airflow sensor. On TOP of that, that paper thin 20V 2.8L block would require dissassembly and the inclusion of a block girdle, forged rods, and forged pistons (somewhere around 8.5:1 compression ratios).... wow add labour into mix too plus tuning.

BUT I STILL LOVE MY LIBBY!!!

And don't worry... my other car is a fully built car... GSR (built internals)... GT35R turbo setup... Full standalone... 150shot just for poops and giggles... It's painted flast black, fully caged, and race lightened...

Like I said: to each his own. I have no doubt that your car would run circles (or maybe just lines with the back wheel like that) around a stock entry level audi or bmw, but to be quite honest, I would be embarassed driving that anywhere but the track. Since I'm probably not going to see a whole lot of track time in my career (if any) the luxury aspect of those cars appeal to me.

well i agree with all of you guys... having a luxury car as a daily driver is WAY better!!! As far as my track car is concerned... it's exactly that... purpose built go fast. It's not comofortable, quiet, has no stereo, no type of A/C or Heating system, no powersteering, and rides as stiff as a 2x4 hahahaha

Tha back rims were only on there when it was in the paint booth... I have a set of light weight BuddyClub Racing rims for it... And those extended studs are for track regulations once you hit 11.49 or faster. The car has yet to be to the track on the turbo setup... But on just the 150 shot it was running deep into the 11's on a tire (11.3X @ 12X mph)

And you're right to each his own... some would be embarassed to drive it around. But quite honestly, it's funny when you park next to high end cars... they always end up asking tones of questions. Mostly because it's not a run-of-the-mill Japanese vehicle mobile with a huge wing, stupid graphics, and underbody lights... TOO FAST, TOO FURIOUS! hahahaha

Thats cool then .. if its actually a purpose built track car then it definately wasnt designed to be pretty :) . Sometimes it's actually cooler when a car looks like it would be a joke and turns out being fast as hell.
