ok so on one of my friends KJ, he was putting the window down and all of a sudden, the what looks to be a wire roller for the window that is wrapped in a white plastic tube. well in on spot, the white tube that surround the wire roller, broke in a spot about 3-4", which is allowing the wire roller to come up through the door panel and not letting the window go down.

i dont the correct term for that "wire roller thingy" but it looks like its made of steel, and soaked in a red grease type. its that damm thing that loops on the inside of the door.

That is a busted window regulator, BUT there MIGHT be an easy fix if you can live with some compromise.

1. Pull the door liner out, you need to get to the assembly.

2. see if you can use the window control to roll the window down (I know it won't go down but the motor should pull the wire thingy back down anyhow)

3. At some point the wire will contact the white plastic piece that is pinned to the window, it should insert itself and more or less lock into place

4. at this point, cap the open end of the plastic tube with crazy glue and something that will fit the diameter of the tube ... this should prevent the wire from pulling itself free from the plastic lift piece again

See if this can save you $150 - $400 ...

You shouldn't have to stick your hand into the hole for this fix. When the window is in the fully-down position, you can move the flexible plastic tube out (it is zip-tied to one hole in the door, if your assembly is like mine).

New regulator is probably going to cost you around $150 or so from the dealer.

Is there a way to tell if its gonna break before it gets to the point that the window won't go up or down and the tube is sticking out. Just wondering because my windows have a good bit of wabble when i roll them up and down.
