If you have to pay for it and you know it will break again anyway, I would replace it with an aftermarket regulator. Something like SPAL or Electric Life. Or buy them at the junk yard so each replacement will not cost as much.
You can feel better knowing that the most expensive German vehicles on the road from Mercedees and BMW use the same junk supplier and their owners suffer the same fate. Although KJ regulators are much easier to find in a junk yard than one form an E Class or M6.
