Chrysler received my package on Sep. 5th. They called me today. I talked to a women that I could hardly understand (India?). Needless to say my claim for reimbursement was denied. The reason given was that it wasn't a warranty issue. I told her that I wasn't surprised because I knew they wouldn't back up the junk parts they use in their vehicles. It felt good to say that!

Anyone else have any ideas about these situations?

If you have to pay for it and you know it will break again anyway, I would replace it with an aftermarket regulator. Something like SPAL or Electric Life. Or buy them at the junk yard so each replacement will not cost as much.

You can feel better knowing that the most expensive German vehicles on the road from Mercedees and BMW use the same junk supplier and their owners suffer the same fate. Although KJ regulators are much easier to find in a junk yard than one form an E Class or M6.

On my regulator the cable was allowed to pull itself free from the piece of plastic that lifts/lowers the window. I think the tensioner or something in the gearbox that is supposed to prevent that had malfunctioned. This allows the cable to keep on going and eventually pull itself out when the window is told to go up.

One fail-safe for this failure mode would be to cover the end of the plastic tube so that should the gearbox fail to stop, the cable itself will not be allowed to protrude out of the tube.

Lubing the rail would only help if you disassemble it since the part of the rail that needs to be lubed is facing away from you and you can't access it unless you take it out of the door completely.

It seems that the way I greased mine worked. At least it stopped screaming at me when I put the window up.
