So Im looking over this months magazines at the local Borders and come across thiss months JP magazine. On the cover is a line "International buys Jeep" I immediatly search for the story past the Liberty dissing (rant for another post) and "Bree drooling" only to find one of their ongoing projects. I had to find out more! Internet surfing I go!
Sufice to say, I was dooped just like others will be in the next month realizing magazines tend to ship issues months ahead of time and the artical in question is in APRIL's issue! darn..... and I thought for a moment fantasy would truly become reality.

i read that liberty dissing too! that guy honestly had no idea what he was talking about. "all sfa liberties i've seen have been unstable and top heavy t "!!! what!! when was the last time he had seen a sfa liberty roll over? that article made me so mad! and he was talking about stock to stock how a WJ or XJ would crush a KJ!!! i dont think so.. the liberty is shorter with better approach and departure angles! and about not being able to trim the wheel well.. he needs to wake up!

A couple times a month, I browse 4WD magazines looking for useful info. I glanced at that magazine as well. Once I read the Liberty bashing, I put it down and said there's no way these guys are getting any of my money.

and to belive that was the "letters to the editor"!

All in all, It would be nice to see that the manufactures actually had the common sense to build a real truck for the masses. With the heritage that Jeep has, it would be benificial to go that route. Dispite their softning, the likes of Land Rover and Toyota still have a very large presance around the world with do-it-all trucks that are way tougher than what we get here unfortunatly. Land Rover and its Defender series of trucks is still one of the best off roaders in Europe with a following that rivals Jeep in the states. The Toyota Land Cruser seems to be the only truck you see trapsing around the globe as the vehicle of choice from farmers in Australia to UN reps in the Middle East. With the J8 now in production, it would seem logical to bring it to the states, but the powers that be seem to think it would be too rough around the edges to compete with the likes of a Ford Explorer (another truck that has lost its way). My only hope at this time is that with gas prices doing the roller coaster ride its on, that the big 3 will come to there senses and build cars that are cars, and trucks that are REAL trucks.
As for "JP' and its handlers, not all Jeeps have to have 38's and a Hemi to be fun to drive on the trails!

Alright, Im done with my rant.........for now.

I have "conversed" with a JP guy or two, mostly Crappa. He is the Editor who apparently can't edit all of the typo's & misinformation in his rag ( I like how the late '70's quadratracs had 727's.... )

Anyway, they are anti-KJ and flat out lie about it. The also print fake letters to the editor when mail is slow.

That may not be an April Fool's joke. Someone could have told those yahoos that International bought Jeep and they went with it..... :-)r

I'm gonna take all the back issues of JP magazine i was foolish enough to buy and recycle them. Although the idea of International buying Jeep is NOT the good idea y'all think it is. Here at OTC Recycling Dept. We have some 2007 and 2008 Internationals and they are garbage. The spend more time down for repairs than on the road. They all do the exact same thing too. The truck shuts down for no reason, turn the key and nothing happens, NOTHING. one truck spent 3 months in Johnson and Sons repair shop 'cause they couldn't figure it out. We called the factory and International won't take responsibility for them 'cause they were 'modified' beyond manufacturers specs to be turned into trash trucks. Do y'all want this to happen to Jeep. I didn't think so.

i was reading it in JP magazine...

it stated that the compass and patriot are getting caned...the liberty will be called a Cherokee again w/ a gas and 3.0l diesel option...the Grand Cherokee w/ a gas and 4.5 diesel option... and the wrangler w/ a gas, diesel and hemi option... also they will be bring back the scout except it will be a full size truck...all the jeeps will have a Rubicon option and the best part...there will be no IFS jeeps...ALL JEEPS WILL HAVE A SOLID FRONT AXLE...

this sounds awesome...
until i seen this post... :( :(

Hey David, what engines are you running? When I was playing "Billy Big Rigger" some years back I ran class 8 Internationals with Cummins engins in them, I never had a problem with them. With engines being electronic controled now a days, anything could set them off. I had my own Libby not start last year just because it sensed the engine overheating. As for International not taking responsability, I cant figure out why since their chassie cab could very well become a common trash truck or anything else for that matter.

I actually switched subscriptions from JP to 4WD & Sport Utility because the latter was offering Liberty coverage and JP was not.

Now, I have yet to see a decent Liberty article in 4WD & Sport Utility in the six months I've been receiving it. We just can't win. :?

Thank goodness for LOST KJ. (I will not acknowledge the change to LOST Jeeps).

It looks like International is in shambles to me. The plants here are almost non-existent. They are closing the credit union, according to local news reports. Look at the garbage PSD they put out. Sure they blame Ford's demands for them being crap, and Ford blames International for making crap. It is probably both.

Supposedly the 6.0L Powerchoke's issue was IH told them "don't let it rev past xxx"

Ford supposedly ignored that.

Both parties are probably to blame, because Ford probably told them "we need it to operate between xxx and xxxx rpm"

Who knows.
