Hey Everyone, I am thinking about buying a libery. This is unusual to me because iv'e always been told to stay away from chrysler products due to transmission issues. Ive had a dodge transmission go in the past, but I really like the libertys syling and power. Now I have a couple questions it would be great to get some insight on. I am going to test drive this Jeep on Saturday. From what you can see does it look like a pretty good deal and if I do end up making and offer what do you think would be reasonable, I don't buy cars to often as you can see. Also the warranty this jeep originally came with the 7, 70,000 warranty is that automatically transferrable? If it isn't and can be transferred what needs to be done to do so. Well any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I edited your post to clean up the long URL and make the post look neater. You can click on "Jeep" and it will still take you to the listing.

I wish I could help you more on what to look for, but I've not bought many vehicles myself. But I do know that there are tons of people on here that will lend their advice.

And welcome to the board.

I do not understand why people say that about the trannys and chrysler, we own 3 jeeps and have had 0 problems with anything, towing a boat and everything. The tranny in the 03-06 libbys is a lighter duty tranny but seems to be holding up even when towing 5klbs. Some of the early 02's came with the same tranny they use behind the hemi and seems to be doing great also. That same tranny is put behind the crd and I believe is having some problems with all the torque at low rpms. Many people do not take care of their cars and I believe thats where the problems starts. Be sure to always use atf+4 in the tranny and change all the oils when they are called for.

Over all i love my little libby, plently of power, at 18k I've has 0 problems. Tows our little boat great(2k-2500lbs). The 06's have esp and traction control standard and from what I've heard is great for mild off roading. If you get a used, get it looked over good to make sure all the proper things jave been done to it. Good luck!

Well, first of all, Welcome to the Jeep world!! Looking at the ad, I would consider this Jeep myself if I was in the market.

My question to you is, what is your budget? Can you afford to go a little more on the cost of the vehicle? I initially started out looking for a used Renegade model, but when I realized that I could get a new one for not much more in price, well, I decided to jump on it. It all depends on what you want to spend, and how you want to spend it. A cheaper vehicle will leave you with more money for mods if you want to do that, or, just plain will be easier on the wallet.

But yes, that does look like a good price, my only area of concern would be those tires. In photo #4, the one with the rim only, it looks like there is a white band all the way around the tire. That to me indicated it was driven on by someone to the service station while it was flat. I would offer them $15000 and go from there. Are you preapproved for a loan or are you looking to finance through them? If you walk in with cash in hand, you'll get a break on the price. Just make sure you know your limits.

And yes, that warranty is transferrable. Good luck, and if you have more ??'s, ask away!!

Thanks for the info. Ill definetly check up on that tire. I would like to keep it under 16k if at all possible im saving up for a house and want to keep my car payments under 300. I have been pre approved and carry my auto loan check on me so I don't hafta deal with the dealership financing runaround. 15k was what I was thinking for an offer. How do I transfer the warranty do I need to do anything special or will it just automatically transfer? Also it's good to hear you tow a boat with no problems I actually do a lot of bass fishing and have a 14 foot boat about 1500lbs or so. Thanks again for the hasty replies.

You need to have it transferred. I am not sure how to go about that, but if you call chrysler or any Jeep dealer, they will tell you how. Some parts of the warranty automatically follow the vehicle, others do not. Double check to be sure. The wording can get confusing. I was just looking at my warranty the other day and had to call to ask questions. Good luck. If you need further contact info, you can PM me. I have it here somewhere...lol

I don't that you need to transfer it per se. I think if went in to the dealer with an issue, they would fix it under warranty as long as its under warranty. It's controlled and maintained by the VIN.

Most of the dealers I have talked with have admitted that all used vehicles they sell have at least $2,000 built into their price for negotiation. Try offering $2,500 below asking price and then go out for lunch and let them think about it...

Definately look the vehicle up on KBB and Nada websites so you can be armed!
