Hey, I'm not sure how many of you get JP Magazine. I have (soon to be had) a subscription and have been noticing a constant stream of Liberty bashing. Every issue they discuss how it's a girly jeep, only sees mall duty, can't four wheel, etc., etc. I was just about to send them a letter telling them about the LOST forums and how much some of us like our KJs, IFS or not. However, somebody sent them a letter recommending that they do that, and all they did was insult the guy and his Jeep. Not exactly saying much for the sport of four wheeling, I'd say. Anyway, I'm sure most of you already know about the Liberty bashing, but I kinda needed to rant a little bit.

I would suggest you not them them anything. Why even waste any time on this at all. we are going to have our day in a very cool magizine I think the next comming issue. Let the Old , work out, cant drive on the street, think they are somebodies because they have big tires...have they own stupid little Junk Parts magazine. Until they get someone other than Cappa to get things right...it will always be the junky rag it is. Dont waste you tiome on these guys... later...Clint

Amen Clint!

You know what your Liberty can do. You know it has proven itself as a quality vehicle on and off the road. Does it really matter to anyone that some waste of print rag can't see that?

Actually, though, can you say what magazine is getting an article? I would love to see more liberty articles. I heard something about 4WDSU having a liberty in it. That is an awesome magazine though. I would highly recommend it. Each issue shows that they believe in the idea that it's not what you wheel, it's how you wheel it.

I certainly believe that alot of these TJ and others drivers have forgotten what getting out and wheeling is all about. Its about fun with friends and family...its about getting outside and enjoying the world we live in...its about going where the day hikers and tourists can't go or don't know about...its about adventure and exploring....these idiot redknecks with their intolerably loud flame throwing 4X4's who do nothing all day but marvel out how high the mud, check that, cow manure they are throwing with their humongous tires have not only destroyed the image of the recreational 4 wheeler, but also taken away all of the things I listed above. They can have their mud holes and cow patty infested farms and fields....just leave us with the nice small quiet trails that take us away from it all and put us somewhere most outsiders can only dream about. To me thats what KJ'ing has been all about, another reason why I never got that TJ unlimited Rubi that I wanted...nice vehicle, too much attitude by those who own one. Thanks for keeping the KJ alive.

My wife and I feel in love with the KJ the moment they came out.. We ran over to the dealership and test drove one.. We would have bought it but it wasn't in our budget at the time... So we waited.. Now we own our 2006 KJ Sport and wouldn't get rid of it for the world.. We can't wait until spring to get out on some trails and go camping... The KJ is a very capable Jeep.. For some reason I refuse to call it an SUV.. SUV reminds me of soccermom, mall running, grocery getter.. It can do all that but so much more... You don't see soccermom SUVs driving to the mall then going to Moab on a weekend... Why people bash it is beyond me.. It is a Jeep.. Inside, outside.. Jeep.. I have taken it threw mud and it did pretty good for being stock.. I can't wait to see how it does on some real trails... :D

LOL.. ROFL.. I was more or less talking about the Tahoes and this big Caddy SUV that pulled up beside me at Walmart.. If that thing went though a mudhole or a stream.. It would sink up to it doors..

4 Wheel Drive and Sport Utility is doing a very great write that will be in the next issue or so. It is a true article with pictures and a trail report. Please keep in mind the LOST group works very hard to do things like this. It really does not matter what clubs deals with things it works in favor for ALL of us. The LOST group is LOST no matter what area or what club you run with...we are all one big cool group of folks and our day is coming for dang sure to get some respect. Thanks to everyone for their hard work to make things like this happen. JP magazine...I mean rag...Never even pick it up to look at it and I have other rigs than the KJ but would never buy it just becasue of the carp they talk in it. Later...Clint

To each his own. I bought my kj because i wanted something that i could go to the trails with for the weekend, wheel the hell out of it, and drive it back home. My Renne gets better gas milage than my lifted ranger, and, is waaaay more capable off road (hence why i got rid of my ranger completely!). If they wanna rag on the liberty, let em be ignorant, while we pull their a$$es outta the mud w/a smile.

I saw a lifted Escallade today...I laughed for a while. I realize that since my vehicle is usually the butt end of jokes that I shouldn't but I did. Since they don't offer REAL 4 wheel drive on those things...

Anyways heres what to do about JP: CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION and DON'T BUY IT AT STORES!!!!

Here's how magazines work:

The magazine publishers figure out the circulation by seeing how many copies they sell.

Advertisers pay them for space based on the circulation...

If we lower their circulation buy not buying their magazine, we cut off their funding. When they begin to loose advertising and funding they will take notice that we (the consumer) control them and that they need to be a little more tactful when it comes to dealing with us. In the meant time I will throw my money at 4WDSU (and PB)

Not ALL Rubi owners have an attitude.

Some are even members of LOST

You can't fault JP for being traditionalist. What if you were accepted then they added the new AWD's ???

Libby might be accepted if there wern't exploded aluminum diffs and maybe a frame under the thing.

I really don't see how being capable is displaying "attitude"

 Granted.... My apologies....however of the ones in my area who mouth off to us in KJs when we're on the trails....they are the reason I never got it....PLUS the multitude of other reasons the KJ benefits from

one of the many things I learned hanging out here is that no particular off-road vehicle model is unworthy....some old school jeep owners may be poor sports but that's how the world works....I don't fault the fellow who started this post for bringing to our attention the comments in JP magazine....I think he's relatively new here and didn't know that many of you were aware of that magazine's point of view....but we shouldn't react like our feelings are hurt everytime we read of KJ criticism...no one complains more about the front differential than we do here....I believe this web site is now recognized in just about all the jeep circles and our reputation here should be as tough as we think the KJ model jeep is....what "they" read here is what we are....so let's don't bash other model owners....and no crying....

I think you have to decide...."do you want to be included?".....I do... so last year, I joined the local jeep club....I'm the only KJ they've seen willing to take a hit....it's a slow process, I wish I could fit a slightly larger tire....but I'm a player now..... :-)r ......I pulled a downed cj out of the woods the other day and a few months ago I pulled a xj out and then 40 miles home on a strap....they now ask me if I'm going to participate on the next ride, etc....a couple guys have said they're considering purchasing a liberty....

I agree with 1jferg in some respects....JP is a magazine for a particular point of view....many of those off road magazines are published by the same media company....I think they need a new editor but I'm interested in some of the content....I plan on being a "project" wrangler owner as soon as I can scrape together a few bucks.....in a recent issue, there was a full page advertisement in the opening pages featuring a liberty (maybe a skyjacker ad, I don't remember....I read the different magazines from the rack while my wife pushes the grocery cart)....money talks and advertisers will eventually want the liberty crowd to buy their products....and I can see the KJ bashing going away eventually if efforts like LOST continue...
