Its not about trying to segregate anyone at all - the idea behind going to regional/local groups is to try and facilitate communication on a local level between LOST members and to promote LOST as an organization.

It's a matter of logistics - as much as I like the ohioanites, I can't afford to drive several hundred miles to their local meetings - so they have their ohio meeting, we have our northern illinois meeting, and we all come together under the Midwest banner.

I envision the regional 'leadership' as the organizing force withing the area. Planning group get togethers and local runs and keeping a watchful eye on the members of their area. Under the midwest banner the chapter president/council would be responsible for coordinating multi-state get togethers/trail rides as well as making sure the regional groups are doing ok

Callaway, I think that should be the structure also !!! I dont want to exclude any one from any event!! We only need to organize and have meetings, shows, trail rides etc. in different parts of the midwest so that every one has a shot of getting together!!!!

keep in mind that just because its a LOST midwest event does not exclude anyone. 2006kj hops over here often and he's from PA

We are not trying to exclude anyone at all, not sure where that is coming from, anyone from around the world can jump into our meetings/runs/whatevers no matter where they sleep at. :wink:

Its just to try and do much like we have been doing here in Ohio and our cousins :wink:

in Il have been lately. Getting together to do things on the KJs or to just kick back and EAT and enjoy some good conversation with like minded souls.

1996xj, callaway and others are thinking along the same lines that I have been for years now. We just need someone in each area to be the GO TO PERSON so to speak, more or less making sure everything in that area runs smoothly, meetings get set up etc. BUT if someone say wants to go to the Badlands, the Area Rep for say Ohio could give the go ahead for that person to plan it ( or the way I see it) and be in charge of that run, truck show, parade what have you

It also does not mean we can not go wheel in other areas

just some organization

As far as splitting you up there will not be any of that per se but I can see where it maybe easier for someone say from Detroit to come to a Toledo get together than driving to Silver Lake area for a meeting/get together there. It never will be completely cut and dry/ ends at the state line type of deal, just from seeing where different people live, we will still all be L.O.S.T. MIDWEST Brothers and Sisters :wink:

We are looking into it and discussing this. Keep tossing around ideas and come up with something substantial as where you all want this headed. :wink:

I'm all for something along these lines. I think we just need to figure out how to take this great online community that has evolved, and bring it to real life as a group of local, regional, national and international car clubs operating under the LOST Banner. How much time and energy are you willing to put into this?

well finally jeepfrogs husband logs on...and has his two cents and marketing ideas.. SO my wife tells me midwest's thread on territory and my immediate thoughts are not by state but by metropolitan areas...thinking the large cities should be subgroups and then cities within three hours drive can get together and if you want in a subgroup...I feel chicago (thus northeastern illinois should be together with milwaukee or southeast wisconsin) call it the chikee group (sorry overclocked comment).. sometimes chicago owners can go up to milwaukee for a meeting and vice versa...divide along major metro areas, then those between areas can choose freely where to belong or I know it may be hard to realize at first but people would join groups located near them rather then in their state. we can take this south from chicago and do gary group name Chary (sorry another overclocked comment) or all three together charykee. I also have ideas about diversification of the forum to other model owners. But bring out a road atlas and look at it then make the metro groups..

I dont think that will group us any better than by "half states." I know we dont have any official KJ owners' locator, but it seems to me there are just as many of us in the rural country areas, as there are near chicago or detroit.

well here is all the members general area that has posted in this thread, just to kind of get an idea, i guess chicago area is more popular than i thought.

I also just pulled some map off google, i didnt really look for something accurate. hence the MI / IL border

I support the idea of having regional organizers to organize events and find ways to spread the word about L.O.S.T, My father is a member of H.O.G (harley owner's group) and they have local chapters that all ride under the H.O.G name, but rides are localized for ease of access to members, however all members are able to participate in any rides they want to. I so something along those lines would be a good idea.

as for the regional presidents/organizers, the can do things like newsletters/posts about what is new in the L.O.S.T KJs world for the less active members to keep up on/organize new events, etc..

stuff like that
