That new replacement skid is a POS and not like the one that came on the my 02. The new ones are a single layer of pressed steel. The one that came on my 02 was double layer reinforced and I still bent it...and I dont even wheel as hard as Jeepster.

thats almost a little fishy, i just bought that exact same engine skid yesterday and it installed like a champ today.

All the holes lined up just fine...weird.

Ditto. I don't think the dealership resold me the same part I gave them back. The one I returned must have been defective. I'm just really annoyed that they didn't know better and tried to tell me it was the wrong part. The new one I picked up this week has the curved "lip" at the back of the driver's side, and all four bolt points aligned perfectly with the predrilled frame holes. Go figure! I'm just glad to have some armor down there, even if it's thin armor.

When I bought my skid plate it had an extra nutzert that was round not hex. I wonder if it was for this application.
