I am trying to find the best bang for the buck lift kit for the KJ, without spending a alot but not buying junk. I don't do a ton of off roading, but love to when I can. I live in WI so there is not many "Legal" places to go.
So i am looking for a lift to look good mostly, but still keep me from scraping on rocks while playing in the MUD

Daystar would be cheapest and still good, stay away from any OTT lifts.
OME springs and Rancho springs/shocks are a great value
OME springs, shocks / struts is the next step
and then
a Frankenlift is most likely the best

No complaints here from my Rusty's suspension lift. For a full suspension lift and not an OVer the Top (OTT) lift is the best price at 465.00

Check out the "For Sale" section too...I got my CRD OME lift from another member.

The cheapest lift would be a "clevis lift" up front...=FREE

and then order some 1.5" pucs for the back=~$125.00

The stock shocks would probably still be long enuff and you would end up with a decent 1.5" lift.

Shop the web and you can do an OME/Rancho lift for around $500
and it is by far the best way to go
I got in when Rustys had the OME springs for $100 a pair and the shocks for $60 a pair
got the Rancho struts for $160 a pair

I do not care for the rustys front springs they are just to weak the only other lifted KJ in the area has the full rustys coil lift and it looked like a drag car the last time I saw it
He lost about 3/4" of lift up front
His KJ has the Rustys lift and 30 X 9.5 R15 BFG MT's on black steelies
MY wife has the OME lift and 245/75 MTR's on OE wheels and seems to be 2" taller
just parked side by side his looks almost stock

I have Rusty's front springs on my KJ, and it sits REALLY high out back. Front isn't much higher than a stocker

That would be the spring sag that we OME lovers or Rustys Haters speak of

The way I see it is yes the Rustys lift is what $50 cheeper maybe $75 cheeper but it is just poor quality
The springs are the same rate as stock which sag and the rear shocks are not made for a KJ
to me this is not a "good deal" but rather cheep and if you want a cheep lift then buy a spacer lift either way in the end you will pay more than if you did it right the first time
I also know that there are 50 people who will say that their Rustys lift is doing fine and has caused them no issues
well then I can only see 1 of 2 things either they are blinded by denial or they are simply ok with lesser quality

Like all things in life you get what you pay for ,save a few bucks buying something cheep it will cost you in the long run
nolakj can tell you all about it ,his Rustys spring lift has cost him 1.5X or more than my OME lift
shocks had to be replaced ,60$ extra bad sag so clevis lift +$100 for an alignment in less than a year of his first one after the lift bought Al's UCA's and now does not really need them due to spring sag ,had an issue with the front strut plate busting ,not really due to the lift but cheep install so it had to be redone
we have had NO issues with the OME/Rancho stuff after about 1.5 years and the best part is that it falls into Chryslers guide lines for suspension lifts because it is listed as only being 1.75" and they state nothing over 2"

well my rustys lift I bought used so to me I have seen no sagging at all if it did sag. I havent even pounded down my pinch weld to run 245/75/16 mtrs and it doesnt even touch. The spring rate being the same as stock is nice because it keeps that nice ride and still lifts your jeep up. I havent had any problems with my lift its just everyone on here seems to be brainwashed hahaha that OME is the best thing for everyone.

here is a pic of mine with the rustys coil

The best bang for the buck is OME shocks and coils.

If I had to do it over again I would just keep saving to get the Frankenlift. Sure it costs more, but in the end you probably be glad you waited for the best lift.

I run the Rusty's 2.5" coil lift with OME shocks(long travel) and OME struts, and a 3 ring cleavis on the front. I like how the Rusty's springs perform, not too harsh and great ride overall. Now if the springs do sag, I will just get some OME front springs and a Daystar spacer to make the Frankenlift. I already have the Daystar upper strut plates, so just add springs and a spacer and I will be Frankenlifted.

Here's a pic of my lift with 245/75/16

I measured 31 1/4" from ground to bottom of fender flair before the lift
and after the lift measured 35 1/4 ". I gained 4" 8)

I just think OME makes a superior product. Best bang for the buck, maybe not, but best overall product? I think so. I was just agreeing with Tom and his list from bottom to top. The OME and the Frankenlift are also the only lifts I have never heard one complaint about. I am sure someone on here didn't like theirs but I have never seen it. All the others I have seen complaints about. Different strokes for different folks as my brother says. There are, without a doubt, quite a few options out there that will suit someone looking for a "best bang for buck" just fine. There isn't one that is without a doubt the best because it is purely an opinion thing and not necessarily factual info. Just my 2 cents. :D

But Frankenlift is the best.

Brainwashing everyone......now thats funny, anytime you tear into a vehicle you should upgrade things, If not why do it? :? :? To me replacing one spring with another of the same spring rate is not upgrading, just replacing even if it does give you some more heighth. I am glad you like the Rustys and when I first came on here 4 years ago I was set to order from Rustys until I read a lot of posts about sagging over time , etc.

I feel that money is hard enough to come by to do things now and then a year down the road again, but hey whatever, people ask questions I tell them what I have and what several others have good luck with. I dont care what anyone buys, I don't make a dime on any of this and can not even get a cheap stupid decal out of ARB so maybe I should run Rustys.   :o
I wheel with some great guys that have Rustys and they do great so buy what ever and I will never , ever try and brain wash anyone else. Now maybe I can get back to my milk and cookies! 8) :) :D

Simon said all of that

Tom out..................................
