As you can see, all of the edges on the teeth of the locker were worn down. The diff was filled with 3 more qts of dino oil and left the KK for the night. It was then driven 20 miles and drain a second time. After the second flush, I refilled the diff with valvoline synthetic oil.....
As per the instructions on the aussie locker web site, I sent them a detailed email on the 7th. Here it is:
On July 31, 2009, I purchased a XD-58229 locker for the Chrysler corp 8.25 in the rear of my Liberty. After less than 2000 miles, the locker malfunctioned last night. Since then, the locker has been removed and the old spider gears were re installed.....
And the reply
We have discovered a defect is some Chrysler 8.25 carriers where one side of the axle shaft holes are slightly off center. For us to verify the cause of the failure of your locker we need for you to go to
www.aussielocker.com on on the left side of the page you will see SERVICES. Click on Contact Us, and then on Talk To Our Engineers. Fill out the form in detail and send it to us. We will assign a technician to your problem, and make arrangements from an RMA to be issued. Because of the nature of the past two failures related to the Chrysler carrier your locker will be sent to an independent consultant for review as to the cause of the failure.
We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced. We have thousands of Aussie Lockers in daily service for many years with no issues such as you experienced.
So, the same email was sent again to the engineering dept on the 7th. On the 9th, I received this reply:
We apologize for the problem you are having with your locker. Your experience is highly unusual and we will require that the locker be returned for evaluation under the warranty.
Ship your locker and pins and springs to:
Torq-Masters Technology
3177 Latta Road

Include a copy of this email and completed form with your shipment.
Thank you
Now, I sent this email to them on the 21st:
Hello again,
I'm wondering if the independent lab company has returned with the results yet....
Thank you,
Between the 21th of September the 12th of October, I called 5 or more time to try and contact their "warranty" person. Finally on the 16th, I was able to talk to a live person. It was explained to me that they felt that the locker didn't fail because of poor design and that it was the fault of my carrier, however they offered to send me a new locker and refund me money for my time and trouble.
On the 19th, a refund of $200 dollars was credited to my account. However to this day I still have not received my "replacement locker" . Numerous emails have been sent and every time I call, I am directed to a voice mail account of casper the ghost......
