Locating fuse? Going to have to pay 75.00 diagnosis charge

When the CB shop originally installed my CB radio, they ran the power to the harness under the steering wheel behind the panel. They spliced it to 2 wires, one thick and one thin (negative ans positive), both of them color orange and gray (striped).

I installed a new CB today using the original wiring without knowing that this new CB was higher draw. It blew a fuse or something because now I get no power from the lines.

When I looked at trhe FSM it said something about F142.

I have no idea what fuse to replace and the stealership wants to charge me 75.00 to diagnose. Please help

Assuming it's a fuse, can't you just look at all of them, one at a time and see which is blown?

I tried that and didnt see any blown fuses in the 2 fuseboxes (engine compartment and drivers side dash)

Ahh, so what all is currently "not working"? You may have melted a wire if the load was too great and there wasn't a fused connection.

I dont know what else is currently not working. Just whatever I hook to that circuit doesnt work.

it drives fine and theres nothing different at all it seems.

I'm taking a stab at your situation, But you may check to make sure there isn't an inline fuse like other aftermarket items. Yes there are a lot of fuses to check, but past radio CB and such aftermarket the supply an inline fuse which always make trouble shooting chalengeing.

That was it. It was an inline fuse. I had to completely remove all the wiring to find it
