My 2005 CRD, with a factory installed tow package, seems to have an electric drain somewhere. I had one battery replaced under warranty. The battery came from another Libby on the lot at Devine Brown Jeep Chrysler. The mechanic told me my battery had shorted out inside.

But after after two weeks of regular driving, when I went to start the Jeep one day, the battery they gave me was dead again. WhenIi tried to crank it, all I heard was a clicking sound. i did have enough juice to see my dash was illuminated.

Does anyone have a hunch about what is draining my CRD's battery? Could I be leaving something on--something that doesn't warn you abouty itself? Or is my alternator a more likely culprit. I'm suppopsed to take my CRD to the factory Thursday, July 20, and leave her there over night so they can troubleshoot it. I'm making an 1,800 mile drive in January 07 and don't want any battery problems. Any body have battery advice or any idea whats goimg on? Thanks in advance,

The Hoover

Seems like there was an issue with this, a TSB on it, see if a search will bring it up, someone
will post on it I am sure.

There is a recall out to reprogram the BCM on at least CRD's but I thought all '05/'06 Libby's. It does drain the battery. Never happened to me but it happened at the dealer prior to pickup. Heard it happen to a few other too. You should have been contacted by mail.

Thanks for the links. i went to Jeep.com owner services and punched in my VIN. It said my CRD was up to date, no incomplete recalls or TSB's. So I'm thinking its a bad alternator. I take her into the shop Thursday and will report my results for others.

I'll dtill ask bout the Body Computer Module (BCM) replacment and any possible recalls on my 2005 CRD

The Optima battery is a great battery but hates being drained too low. BCM reprogrammed should fix the draining issue then a NEW battery will be needed. Same thing happen to my CRD and a Mopar replacement battery was issued and no other problems.

Optima Battery. Sounds good. I dropped my KJ off at the dealer for an over the weekend visit and check up to nail down why my battery drains. I did tell them to check the BCM and check for any technical service bulletins. Luckily the Liberty is my other car, bought in October of 2005, so I didn't need a rental. Unless they fix Beth early, I'll report my outcome Monday.
