I am not bad with this type of stuff but always like knowing that I have less chance of screwing it up and having to drop the tank twice! If I have someone who has already successfully did the job then I have much less chance of screwin it up!
To make it more enticing, I do have a hoist that I can use over the weekend if the job can be done in less than two days!
The main part I am worried about is the wiring, while it does seem simple I wouldn't want to drop the take to repair the wiring after the fact!

I have been interested in doing the same, but like you have been a little scared of the wiring part. I am in SE Michigan and if there is some interested in helping us out I would be willing to pay for plenty of shop beer.

Actually, this was one of the easier jobs I've done for our Libby and also one of the more rewarding ones in terms of drivability.

Check out this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=26385&hilit=lift+pump

Purchase the lift pump for the Dodge RAM pickup with the Cummins diesel (also uses a bosch CP3 so you know it's compatible), requires minor adjustment of the tabs to fit the tank, swap the float (snaps in) to get accurate fuel gauge reading.

Wiring wise, pull the back seats - tap the fuel pump wire that's there - add a ground - and install the gasser harness to bring the additional wires (power/gnd) to the pump and you're done.

Few hours in the afternoon. Since everything else is in place from the gas versions (relays, fuses, and cycling power at the right times) most of the heavy lifting is already one for you.

No more air in the fuel system, hesitations, smoke, hard starts, and you get more lift out of the filters before they cause you grief.

I did mine in about 6 hours. Some tips:

1. I purchased the gasser harness and took the wires I needed out of it. Gave me some time to figure out how the connectors came apart. Its probably cheaper to make up the new wires your going to add to the harness. Just need to find the right pins in advance. I believe the how-to has the correct wire lengths if your going this route.

2. I removed the entire harness from the vehicle, Makes it much easier to insert the new wires on the bench rather than on your back. Need to take the back seat out anyway to get a good ground point under the seat.

3. I replaced the metal fuel lines with rubber fuel hose and clamps. eliminates a weak area.

4. Test the wiring, both the fuel gauge and pump before you put it into the tank. I didn't and had to drop the tank a second time.

5. In order to have accurate fuel level use the fuel level arm from the original sending unit. Took me a bit to figure out how to swap them, but it was easy once I figured it out.

Good luck

I just installed a universal lift pump with 3/8" inlet/outlets by unhooking the inlet hose from the fuel filter housing and tying it in with a piece of 3/8" fuel line hose. Then run a ignition hot wire to it and ground to the block. Took like 20 minutes tops. Works great!
