My CV's were not replaced with the shaved down version AND I had the 450lb springs which put me at 5.5" of front lift. That made my CV's grind bad in 4 wheel drive. Those two things combined.

Now, I am currently sitting with USAFCOP's old and ancient front strut lift (pre-any KJ lifts) and my CV's make some noise. Most likely damaged during the time I had them on with 5.5" assembly.

I have been waiting to hear from others to know if the shaved CV's really work since I am 90% sure I have to replace mine. Just a huge expense that I was hoping to avoid. There goes my $600 check from Uncle Sam.

I have to get this thing put together and working right so I can test it in the Rockies. Time is getting closer to where we can hit some trails again. Though you wouldn't it by the 80 degrees we had yesterday and the heavy thick snow fall we had today.

i know how it is. i just moved to illinois from parker Co. i miss it so much. colorado's best kept secret is the weather. if everyone knew what it was like to live there, everyone would. but back to topic, yeah i dont hear anything. shifts right in and rolls into four like it did before. but i did just get this all so i havent gotten to do anything even close to offroad so, i guess we will see then how they really hold up.

i'm not sure how i have just a frankenlift in the front and my CV angles are worse than yours! and your jeep is DEF. higher than mine. humm.. i had my CV's machine on the inside instead of taking 3/8s off the face because with the axle dropping in the CV it would still rub. Image

i got the faces towards the outside of the CV machine in.. so they went from about a 70 degree angle where the axle would hit the peak of them.. to a 20 degree angle... plus it keeps the strength of the outside CV since i didnt lose any length. a local machinist charged me $3 to do it.. (but i have him 20.. he's a great person.. older guy who does machine work in his spare time)

so.. new axle (with nice boots instead of hard plastic mopar ones)- $100
Mechanic to take it apart- $10
Machine CV cup- $20 (actaully 3 but i thought that was too cheap for his time)
Mechanic to re-assemble- $10
Total for cut CV good for a real big left :) - $140
Wheeling - priceless!

the picture shown above is from the viewpoint of the tire looking straight into the differential.

An old thread, but one that is worthy to be bumped. Tokyo, you should post a few of your pics………
