*edit*

Who here Is running the widest 31"-ish tires?

Specifically if anyone is running in the above 275 range, how well do they/don't they fit?

I'm NOT looking to go super tall, 31.6" max for now. I'm just looking to go wide

idk if itll help but this is Boblemoche's KK. these are 285/75, equivalent of about 33s.

Will not work without doing a lot more than you really want to, plus do you have a spare diff when yours goes boom?
235-85 or 265-75 is biggest without a lot of issues even then regearing is needed

yeah, doesn't really help me, the KKs have less difficulty with bigger tires.

since I drive a KJ, I'm not sure if a 275 or 285 will fit width-wise in any aspect ratio.

Tom will probably chime in eventually, but I'm looking at 275-285/70r16, and wondering if they will clear in relation to width, because these are only going to be 31-31.7" tires height wise. but they are really wide.

But just imagine some 285/70r16 toyo open country M/Ts on a KJ :dizzy:

yeah, like the post right above yours :dizzy:

Just stick some 265/70's on there and be done with it. Larry has some 265/75 Treadwrights M/T's and had to tear out the inner fenderwell and that's with spacers even. You're on a tight budget, stay a little smaller and have less problems down the road.
I run 285/75's on 8" rims on my Tahoe, they are right aournd 32.5" tall and abut 11"s wide. they will tear up some stuff on a KJ.
:2cents:

I guess I'll just stick to 265, I miss running real wide tires like the ones I had on my older truck (see: 33x12.5" TSL Boggers :jester: ). I like the wide look, the KJ tires feel like bike tires, not truck tires

I bet it's just the stockers messing with me, once I get the 265/70s I'll feel a lot better. or maybe I'll fake it with spacers or something

You better get a real lift also, even for 265/70's you will need at least 3" of lift.It took alot of work and cutting to make 265/75's work on my KJ to get max flex without hitting to much(about a 3" strip on the front of the rear wheel well's was all that hit).

I'm getting a Franky II premium front with my tax return, and I'm getting a set of spacers for the rear as well as some iso's (temporary), and my front doesn't really have much wheel well liner left...

I'll still need to pound the welds, but that is easy.

If I were you I'd really go 265-70-16s looks wide enough on a Kj and doesn't rob a ton of power, if you want to go cheap order two 265-70-16 Treadwrights BFG AT tread and I'll make you a great deal on two

Tell you what since I am such a great guy
I like to help people out
You gave me a deal before
110 bucks for two with under 1500 miles on them,
thats dropped off to you in Columbus
order two more from Treadwright on BFG casings and you are set. These are actually taller than a regular BFG AT by a little

Rim selection makes a difference in appearance. I noticed over the weekend that my 245 MT/R's on stock steelies look tucked in a bit more than the same size on an aftermarket rim or a Rubi rim.

I have rim envy....

it is only a possibility, I would like to, but as of right now, I do not think funds will allow it.

also, do these 265/70r16 ATs have white letters?

FWIW, I am running 32x11.50x15 BFG All Terrain TAs on 15x7 with 4" BS wheels. Only get a slight sway bar rub on the front at full lock. But sounds like you already have the problem solved via good ol' Tom!
