I jsut bought some used cherokee rims with tires for $250, and as I'm sitting here at work it just occured to me that they might not fit with the disc brakes. anyone know for sure?

most likely not, depends on steel or aluminum, 15 inch steel wheels may depending on back spacing, aluminum will not due to being thicker

i have 15" cragar soft 8's that are FOR the kj, and the space between the rim and the caliper is so small, i was nervous driving the first few miles..

just about any other 15" rim will not fit the kj.

crap, now I'm going to have to resell them and still have to shell out over $600 for halfway decent tires. Why the heck do they put rims onto a vehicle that severly restricts the kinds of tires you can use??? My pt cruiser was the same way, 17" rims so you have to pay extra for the lower profile tires.

:?: :?:

those are Cherokee rims right? You are the one putting them on a KJ...they weren't intended for the KJ. As far as I know, Jeep is putting the right rims on and their stock rims don't restrict anything as you put it. Check around and you can get GREAT tires for your stock rims for way less than $600. I just bought 5 tires at a larger than stock size, had them mounted, balanced with all the roadside bells and whistles for the life of the tire for $485 plus tax...$515 OTD. That's for 5. For 4 tires, you can save even more...and if you go to a place like Pepboys or the like, they have buy 3 get the fourth free all the time. Food for thought.

Pote, That is entirely true, if you have the 16" rims. Mine are 17" (the limited automatically comes with them). I searched EVERYWHERE for decent tires that would still fit, My options ARE very limited, especially if I want something good for offroad use. And forget about finding anything at a decent price, most quotes were for halfway acceptable tires and they range from $550-$800+, money that I don't have right now. And forget it if I want some good M/T's.

16 inch rims would open up the world to me, but mine didn't come with them.
