I have noticed since day one a funny smell around the CRD. I only smell it outside the jeep. I was thinking it was just some new engine smell but after 5000 miles it is still there. I only notice it while it is running. The best I can describe it is that it smells like bubbles. You know the kind you get the kids to play with. Anyone else notice this or am I just crazy.

I have checked the antifreeze levels and havn't noticed a drop yet.

And I think that NUT fell completely off a while back so I shouldnt have to worry about that anymore.

Maybe I should check my wiring--someone posted a pic not long ago about a misplaced harness that was getting hot and I have never checked for that myself. Man I really hope its not melted wires :?

Burning wires could be a sweet like smell, I checked last night.

It could be that 'chemical like' smell from the exhaust when the engine is idling and your outside it. Also, my rear swing gate seal smells like garbage every time I open it - it's the rubber seal itself making that weird smell.

The CRD exhaust does smell different than a regular diesel and the smell hangs around after shut down. I assume it has something to do with the catalytic converter.

I guess it is the exhaust after all. Just that no one I have asked seems to think it smells like bubbles. Guess my sniffer is confused. So what does it smell like? I still say bubbles. But it does not smell like diesel exhaust.

The Surgeon General has determined that sniffing exhaust is bad for your health and may also cause an addiction to online forums.
