Sorry if this is a repost but I've had no luck finding anything on how to fix this. There is a very loud annoying rattling coming from the back of my Liberty. It sounds like the window is slightly moving or a latch or something. It's in the interior, not something underneath. Is there anyway to fix this other than turning up my radio?

Seeing that you have an 02 (looked at signature) I recall reading around hear that there was a recall or something to that effect or someone having a similar issue and DC fixed it right up...I want to say that CaKJfreedom had a similar issue, but I could be mistaken....

Mine was rattling due to too much bass, but adjusted the door latch and it seemed to hold everthing tighter, no more rattle, the issue on the latch recall was it could open by itself while driving (i think) the dealer installed a safty catch.

Yeah its not the safety recall. I'll try the door latch tightening when I get the chance and hopefully that'll fix it.

I was having what seems to be the same issue. Partly due to excessive bass from my stereo system.

Put a little bit of foam stripping around the outter edges of the window to tighten the fit and wrapped a bit of electrical tape around the window latch.

Stopped the rattle which was my main goal...

Wasn't me. No rattle, just a leak when it rains. (I'm very happy it's summer now)

If I remember right, you can take the plastic off the tailgate and adjust some rods tha run diagonally. I think that's all the dealer does. So if you're feeling adventerous.....

I had the same rattling noise
took shocks - struts or whatever you want to call them, cleaned up both holders/pins put them back on - noise is gone
got lucky? - don't really know but that was too easy
good luck

SM says to adjust latch so that when you lay a straight edge vertically from door panel to rear glass, there should be 0-2 mm of difference (if it's not flush) -- loosen two latch bolts and slide for and aft in small increments until flush.

The dealer fixed mine last week while they were working on my front diff. They said they tightened up the spare tire rack, and the tail gate....might wanna give that a shot?

I'm getting ready to head out to the garage and see what I can do. That rear plastic trim pops off just like door panels right?

Well, that didnt solve anything. I thought I had found the issue in a loose electrical connection running to the wiper motor. However, after I secured that and took it for a spin. I discovered the rattle is still there. It is apparent at 15 mph and up constantly. I did discover, however, that the sound is amplified when the spare tire is on. I checked and neither the bracket nor the tire is loose, so that's not it. I don't think it is the tire itself, but rather a result of the added weight of the tire on the door. My only idea is that the door needs to be aligned and I have no idea on how to do that. If anyone has a solution I would be very grateful.

The piece of plastic on the top of the glass window that pops up can get dirt on it sometimes and rattle. Mine did it once and I had to clean it off.

This is gonna be the death of me. I took the back area apart again for the third time today to work on aligning the door. Well, before I even got started, I broke one of the bolts on the door handle. Just a warning thats a $96 part, but its gonna be in tomorrow. I also had to go buy Torx wrenches because some engineer at Jeep was having a bad day.
