Here's a story on E85 and pumps available...at least around Colorado.

I wonder if that means that they are going to put it in the 4.7L in the Grand, from what I have seen so far DC has not shown any of the HEMI engines with Flex Fuel. A Flex fuel HEMI with cylinder deactivation would be nice.

Any gasoline engine will burn E85. The only problem is that it's more corrosive than regualr gasoline the rubber seals and lines. E85 is less polluting and cheaper, but it doesn't get near the MPG as gasoline.

But we don't have to import it so that carries a lot of weight in my book.

The only problem with wthanol is that it takes more energy to make than it gives off when it's burned. It also uses A LOT of water to produce. The midwest is going to be facing a water shortage at some point in the not so distant future.

I think we should switch all of our electrical power plants to nuclear, which is far cheaper and less polluting than any other alternative. Methane would be another good source. It's clean burning, renewable and there a large amounts of it naturally occuring, both on the land and offshore. Landfills also produce quite a bit. We should export as much coal as possible, we have a lot of it, it's easy to transport, plus it's becoming expensive to refine to EPA standards.

As for vehicles, they do make methane powered vehicles, but they have the potential to explode. All those changes should free up enough petro to make gas & diesel affordable again...for the time being.

! That will be the day! J/K Depending on what part of the midwest, maybe. However, I don't think anywhere in Ohio, Illinois or Indian will ever have that problem. If you wanna see dry try moving out to Arizona, New Mexico or So-cal. 1/10 of the rainfall vs the midwest.

There are ethanol plants popping up all over the midwest. It's my understanding that the water used in the process is very recyclable.

Nobody ever talks about how much energy it takes to produce and transport gasoline but are quick to point out those numbers when it comes to alternatives.

And then there's the economic savings in not having to 'defend our interests' in the mid east. Nobody's factoring that in either. Just think of the National Treasurer that goes in to keeping that area stable and with debatable results.

Bio fuels all the way!!!
