Hello all, here in Europe lifting cars is hardly done.
I have a jeep kj liberty 2006 with 17" wheels and would like to lift her up.
Dealer here wont coöperate and i have to do it myself
Can anyone tell me what i can use best.
Read about Rusty's and Frankenstein ( brands i have never heard off).
I dont even know what i need for it!!
I dont have a clue, all i know is that a suspension lift would work best, so im thinking about a 2 1/2" lift, from Rusty's or
Frankenstein??.
If anyone who is using one of these sets, i would gladly hear from them.

Frankenlift from All J Products. http://www.boulderbars.com

This lift was developed largely by members of this forum, and All J are great people to work with. You won't be disappointed.

Either one will probably be great. The Frankenlift will be easier to install, since the front struts are preassembled. The Rusty's lift isn't hard either, but it'll take you longer and you'll need a spring compressor.

Since Amsterdam is below sea level maybe you should think about getting a snorkel as well

Just kidding...as a Frankelift owner I can vouche for its quality. It improves the on-road handling and comfort as well as the off-road capability. The company is great to work with as well.

Good luck and let us know how you progress in your endeavour.

You may want to think about that. Along with the franken lift, you really need new upper a-arms b/c it lifts the jeep so high. you can get them from jeepinbyal which cost around $300. If it were me, I would get the rustys lift b/c there is nothing to worry about and you shouldnt need to change any other parts out(with you being over seas and all). Be sure to get the rancho rear shocks with this kit b/c rustys rear shocks are crap. My .02.

There are many MANY guys on here running the frankenlift with no a-arm problems, myself included. Not to say I won't buy a set in the future, but I'm doing just fine without them.

It's fine to point out pluses and minuses, but please don't spread false information.

Also, Rusty will not sell you Rancho shocks, and if you ask him for them he will rip your head off. He will take a $50 off and remove the shocks, and you can order them elsewhere. Be aware that his springs have been reported to sag after a year or two as well.

When lifted, we will travel to the North Cape, here in Europe, and from there all the way south to Gibraltar, and from there into marokken moutains and desserts, so im worried (a bit) about that a-arm thing.
Not to many jeep dealers in the dessert :-)r
BTW i have been looking for a snorkel, cant get it here in Europe, is it availeble in the US, so i can buy one online??
Thanks for your info and help all.

Hugs Monique

Completely absolutely false!! Unless you know something (and can prove it with hard evidence) that the hundreds and hundreds of people happily running the Frankenlift don't know you need to retract that statement immediately. As pixeldzn stated, this isn't to say I won't get the aftermarket arms but it is nothing N-O-T-H-I-N-G like a necessity. Frankenlifts have been pounded on for a collective hundreds of thousands of miles with nothing to suggest that replacing the A-arms is something to expect.

Monique, email the folks at All J ( info@boulderbars.com ) and get all the information you need straight from the people who assemble the Frankenlift. I promise your mind will be put at ease!

I've been running the Frankenlift for a while and i think i beat on my KJ pretty hard...I still have the factory upper A-Arms, but will get Al's A-Arms in the future not because i NEED them, but because they have heavy duty ball joints and lube points.

Actually Monique we don't have one. Check out this one from another topic here that we are all drooling about. It is on your side of the pond:

I agree also. Make sure you include facts with statements or just say IMO or IMHO.

The Rusty rear shocks are not crap, IMHO. I have not had ANY problems *knock on wood* with mine at all and I have done Moab twice with them and some hard rocky trails here in Colorado for nearly two years now.

I do have facts that tell me this. I also have people that have told me they get UBJC and torn boots with the franken lift, and they cannot get the correct alignment. Im not really that worried about it, just trying to help out. You all can say all you want to.

IMO is the same thing as my .02 Tokyojoe...

Once again, thanks for all the kind help you all gave me.

I have contacted Frankenlift, (thanks for the adress), and they can send it to me.

To stay on the safe side, i also asked for that A-arms thingy :D they gonne send me that too.

I have seen the photo's of the snorkel, and contacted them aswell.

I hope they will send me one.

When everything is done i will post some pics of it.

Thanks all.

Hugs to all from Monique in Amsterdam xxxx

Monique is all helped out. Now I don't have an excuse to post things like:

Quote:
I also have people that have told me they get UBJC and torn boots with the franken lift, and they cannot get the correct alignment

Some anonymous other telling you their local tire shop couldn't do a proper alignment is not hard evidence that "you really need new upper a-arms b/c it lifts the jeep so high". Nor is it evidence that their torn boot or UBJC (w|c)ouldn't also happen with a Rusty's lift.

And I was all ready to post something like that ..... damnit! Then I was gonna close it off with some half-hearted attempt to put some salve on any wounds caused by saying something like: Wanting to give advice is always appreciated. You just have to be careful with slagging a product. Especially one that soooo many people pound and abuse and love without trouble like the Frankenlift.

Oh well....Monique is hooked up (the real point of this thread) and there's always the next cage match..errr...thread...to fight in. :D

For all those out here who want a safari snorkel like seen at www.Indiancars.fr.

I have some bad news.

The snorkel shown on the pics, is one af a kind, home made, and not in production yet.

Thats started after there summer holiday.

It will cost about $500 including shipping, to the US.

When knowing production starts i will inform you all

BTW A HAPPY WEEKEND TO YOU ALL.

Monique

No worries SethX9, I was just giving my opinion.

Kinda sucks about the snorkle. Seems like everything thats really cool for the KJ is homemade. :?
