KJ Cherokee 2.5" Old Man Emu (SuperRide) System ($1,150.00) (Australia)

2 - OME Front HD Coil Springs
2 - OME Rear HD Coil Springs
2 - Front HD Nitrocharger Suspension Struts/Absorbers
2 - Rear HD Nitrocharger Shock Absorbers

"This system offers exceptional ride and on road stability while remaining one of the best off-road systems available. Will only allow fitment of standard tires with clearance at full travel. This system dose not require a Slip Yoke Eliminator or drive train modifications for fitment.

Would this then be the best lift for a CRD?

Why can't you put bigger tires on this lift? It is 2.5"

the main reason they say stock tire size only is because of the way our wheelwells are shaped I'd think. Until you get into REALLY big lifts, you still have to worry about rubbing tires whens tuffed or turning with our slender little wheel wells. I run a tire a full 2 inches taller and 1 inch wider than stock with no issues on a 2.5" lift..

someone has been to the suburban webste in australia

its basically the ome lift + clevis lift using a spacer inside the clevis

the rear is just 2 TJ 10mm Spacers bored out a little to fit over the rear bump stop carrier and under the rear spring isolator

a lot of guys down under have been using OME HD springs and 10mm spacer between the top of the strut and the body kind of like the rustys top plate i think

and in australia it not legal to run 245/75R16 when the vehical came out with 235/70R16's

you can run a larger tyre with it they actually run 265/70R16 MTR's on the suburban 2.5L CRD KJ

I pulled this off of the pinned topic in the top of the forum. Are OME springs stronger than the stock ones? I want to pack around a winch sometimes.

it depends if your running a bull bar like the OME one or just a hidden hitch with a cradle for winching

i know a few people with HD ome springs in CRD KJ's that have had no issues with sagging and a few that have combined the OME HD Coils with a aussie version of the rusties top plate to get a bit of extra lift, whith a ome bull bar

others have run a daystar 1 1/2" spacer a rustys top plate and thier factory front coils when running a bull bar with a replacement strut

i hope i have not confused you too much

So are you saying that it's legal to run 265/70R16 but not 245/75R16? I'm confused.

I do, but its not a 2.5in lift. Read my post right above yours.

The franken lift also uses ome springs front and rear.

I have the OME Heavy Duty springs but Rancho struts/ shocks and I know I got about 2.5 or so, of course went with clevis also. Ride is fantastic, going over railroad tracks before was bone jarring now never let up and it floats across. So with the OME springs and struts I would feel like it would be a great lift.

no mate

the max tyre size we can run is 1 size up from stock but nobody worries too much about it

I have the OME front suspension springs and struts, and it's about 2.5" of lift, and just a couple of 2.5" spacers in the back. So far, I really like the ride. However, I went with the "medium duty" springs, and wish I would have gone with the HD springs instead. I think there's a bit too much bounce in the front end because the springs aren't stiff enough. As for off-roading, I've only had it out one, and it preformed very well. I do need to shave off some material from the Y-arms because they made contact with the springs a couple times - I hate that sound! It sounds like something just fell off my Liberty.

I'm curious what the better shock and strut is - OME claims they're some of the best struts and shocks out there when paired with their springs - what about Rancho shocks compared to the OME when using OME springs?

The CRD Frankenlift in the US is Daystar 2.5 inch spacers up front and the heavy OME springs out back. The OME front struts are an upgrade they call the CRD Frankelift II. They are also in the works to have OME custom build a rear shock for the Frankenlift. The CRD springs are heavier than the OME springs and appear to make a better on/off road rig.

Hi all

I have the 2.8 CRD. I had the OME HD coils and struts installed this will give you 200kg's more caring capacity in the rear and will give the CRD about the same lift as the V6 just over 2'' as the CRD is about 180kg's heavier up front. If you install a ARB front bumper you'll need to place a 12mm spacer plate between the body and the top of the front spring assembly, this will per load the spring lift and stop the bounce from the extra wight.

I run on 245/70/16 but then we have no enforced law on what we can run on, we say if it fits put them on!

As for the strength of the OME spring, i have no doubt that they are unbelievable strong its what about 85% of us in Africa use. My last trip i did in my kj was a 9500km (about 4000mls) loaded with about 750kg's of kit through Mozambique which had a civil was on for about 20 years and the roads are underivable the further north you go. We hit hole after hole and the rear would bottom out time and time a gain! some parts would take 8hr to cover 50km (about 20mls) and if you break a spring it will take weeks to get a new one. So id say i trust them. Just think of the Australian out back and they trust them to.

Ill try post a pic off my kj fully loaded. :D

So, everyone that says they received 2.5in of lift from the OME lift, is that all you have? Just the HD ome springs? I do not understand whats going on here. If the franken lift with a spacer added to the Hd ome springs gives you 2.5in of lift, how does everyone with just the Hd ome springs get 2.5in of lift? Theres something Im missing? :?

I should of measured before hand ( but got too excited about getting it all put on  ) but I know that I got at least 2.5 with the HD OMEs and Ranchos struts and 4 conduit nuts for the clevis. Does anyone else have 245 70 16s to compare ride height? I know it would be some difference but ...
