Lockers? We don't need no stinkin lockers!

Here's some pics of my still stock 06 Libby CRD in the roughest stuff I could find around where I live and pushed it to the limit in the flex department, what I discovered was that the traction control in my 06 really works well off road so well in fact I'm not even considering lockers anymore. btw both front and rear sway bars are on in these shots. At any rate this is my 3rd Jeep and it is by far the most capable stock Jeep I've ever driven :-)

Note the typical offset terrain up the embankment left by trucks with open diffs spinning their tires

Heres a shot of a really steep climb I'm about to make out of an arroyo

at this point my left front and right rear have zero traction

Nice shots. I am more impressed everytime I get to play with my CRD. The traction control really does an impressive job. If I ever add anything for extra traction it will be the Detroit True Trac. I think the extra weight we have up front is an advantage when climbing also.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't traction control turn of when you get into 4 LO.

4WD Low Range

Partial Off This is the normal operating mode for ESP in 4WD low range. Whenever the vehicle is started in 4WD low range or the transfer case (if equipped) is shifted from 2WD, 4WD high range, or neutral to 4Wd low range, the ESP system will be in this mode. In 4WD low range, ESP and TCS, except for the "limited slip" feature described in the TCS section, are turned off until the vehicle reaches a speed of 30 mph. At 30 mph, the normal ESP stability function returnes but TCS remains off. When the vehicle speed drops below 25 mph the ESP ssytem shuts off. ESP is off at low vehicle speeds in 4WD low range so that it will not interfere with off-road driving but ESP function returns to provide the stability feature at speeds above 30 mph. The "ESP/TCS Indicator Light" will always be illuminated in 4WD low range when ESP is off.

Wow, 30mph in 4LO? I'm amazed you can even go that fast with the lower gearing :shock:

Basically what that means is that in low range excess wheel spin is stopped "limited slip" but there is no automatic throttle reduction like you would get with full fledged traction control.

You are not supposed to go over 25mph in low. I do not believe Ive ever been over 10mph.
