With 60K, I have numerous tiny pock marks on the windshild, and a real nice crack in the corner. I figure I'll opt for a replacement later this year.

As far as longivity and strength, it's outlasted the ones I had on my '92 Wrangler, which generally needed replacement yearly.

With 55k on the clock and 3.5 years under the belt, I'm going on my fifth, YES 5TH, windshield! The first time it cracked was in the first week of ownership.

I watched as they removed the windshield and it's VERY thin! I had a Mercedes before this Jeep. That glass was as thick as the brick that was used to break Cacher123's glass (sad story, BTW).

that's why there's so much wind noise in the KJ than in luxury cars, thinner glass among other things.

The angle of the glas helps somewhat, but my wife's MPV (very sloped for a van) is going on its 2nd windshield too.

I assume that the LIE here in NY doesn't help matters. But c'mon!

Hmmm. My glass has no chips or anything and I have been peppered with flying rocks. Interesting.

Just came across something interesting from Geico. Seems if u have Geico insurance, they will waive ure deductible and pay to have minor chips or cracks filled in ure windshield. Seems that it's cheaper for them to do this than pay for an entire windshield replacement later on. Might be worth looking into.

I don't think there is anything unusual with the glass on the KJ.

You haven't experienced glass breakage until you've had the driver side window explode while you're driving on the freeway. (this happened to my Prius) Good thing I managed to remain in control of my bowels

I always keep full glass coverage on my vehicles with $0 ded. And State Farm as same policy as the G rip-off company in terms of free chip repairs.

I just hate putting in the claims and having anyone mess with my KJ!

 I can relate to that, unfortunately. I passed a large dumptruck in my old '92 Sundance when it was about a year old, and two fist-sized rocks hit the windshield just in front of my face. I got a lapful of glass but somehow the windshield managed to stay together with two holes in it. My southernmost portal slammed shut... What surprises me in all the years of driving and replacing windshields is that most rocks seem to hit the glass and very few hit the paint. Either that, or the paint doesn't chip as easy. Maybe we should get some transparent paint and coat the windshield?

Safety glass. Windshields do not shatter into pieces like the rest of your glass. They are layered and designed to crack, but retain some protecting value for the passengers. If not, then after that first rock hit your windshield and shattered it, the second one would have hit your nose!

The Sundance was a great car, however ours had the opposite experience! My mom's old '93 Sundance-Duster (too young to remember the '90) had rock chips everywhere BUT the windshield! Even the mirrors, grille, hood, fenders, bumper!

Boy that car had terrible aerodynamics. The Dodge Nitro is better...

When I got my first KJ that surprised the heck out of me with the rocks starting to hit the windshield and none hitting the paint.... I wasn't expecting that.
