Lots of warning lights on the dash. Are we talking CEL (Check Engine Light)? If so you can sometimes read the error codes by following a procedure in the manual that I have never done but involves turning the ignition on and off 3>5 times (read your manual) while the odometer is in the "trip" setting and the odometer will return the error code. The other way is to go to AutoZone or similar place and have them plug into the diagnostic port and read it. Finally there is doing the same thing at the dealer.

Probably no one knows but the computer. Likely will never happen again. If it does I would take it in but otherwise I think I would just ignore it.

I threw some codes the other day that put me in the limp mode on my CRD. I was near the dealer and took it right over. The codes were some that no one had seen before and the issue had cleared itself by the time that I got to the dealer. The have contacted DC to see what the codes mean but I have had no repeat of the problem so I don't know what the out come of the DC contact was over it with the dealer.

Before computerized cars we would throw the hood up, poke at things a while, scratch our heads then ttry it again and if it started just go on with life. If it didn't start we would kick it or worse start messing with the carberator settings then really foul it up. Computers are no fun at all!
