The boss/wife is complaining the A/C smells like an old refer. Has anyone else noticed? I though I'd spray some oust in the air vents and see if it helps.

Suggestions?

thanks

An auto air conditioning shop can shoot some kind of cleaning foam solution into the evaporator coil housing to clean the crud out of there. There may be a kit to do it yourself, I don't know.

Plain Lysol in the air vents and then run them dry. Probably mold in there. When I picked up my 05 the salesman told me not to run the AC on recirc all the time as this can speed up the creation of condensation in the vents.

Thanks for the ideas... I'll try the lysol and have her change how she uses it and see if that doesn't help any...

I had a similar problem right before my ac clutch went out. It also would stop blowing cold air for about 20 minutes at a time. Replacing the AC cluch solved the problem for me.

Vents full of trail dust...

My XJ is really bad, some day I will have to take all the ducts apart to clean them out.

Isn't there a TSB for this where they pour baking soda into your air vents?

Make sure you use lots of peanut butter to catch the baking soda when it comes flying out of the vents...

Tried the PB but now the squirrls are back...was I supposed to leave it in the events or take it out?

I cranked the air on and sprayed the vents and that seemed to help a lot.
Thanks guys
