I finally took the first step towards lifting my KJ today. After reading and learning here for over a year I decided that an OME HD coil / Rancho RSX lift was best for my needs. (Mostly street driving, daily driver, plus my wife having to lift our two boys, who are under 2 years old, in and out of it all the time) So today I took advantage of the sale Rusty's is having on the OME springs. $100.00 per pair + shipping. They didn't have the HD fronts listed on the site, but I called, and they had them is stock so I placed my order. They said they should ship tomorrow and be here in 3 - 5 days.

If anyone is interested in this deal don't wait. I got the impression they were only going to run the sale until their stock runs out.

I know this is only a small first step, but I'm very exicted and had to post. Now I just have to put a little cash aside for the RSX's in the next few months and I'll be lifted at last. I can't wait.

Way to go Pbrug! We don't stop at 12 steps around here either. The list just keeps growing and growing and growing and growing and growing and growing

So you got the rancho shocks for the rear but not the front? Youll love the ome lift, I love mine at least. Be sure to tell me how much lift you get overall. With my MED front coils and HD rear, I got around 1.5in front and 2in rear. How much did you pay for those front coils?

Actually I do not have any shocks yet, front or rear. I just ordered the springs today. I would of liked to get everything at the same time, but $$$ is a little tight right now. I'm going to get the Rancho RSX's for the front and rear when I have the cash. I'm hoping in the next few months.

Rusty's is selling the OME coils for $100.00 a pair. (They were $120.00 per pair before) I think it's while supplies last. When I called I was told they were not selling well since Rusty's kit came out, and they may not carry them after their stock is gone. The total was $239.50 with shipping to Pittburgh, PA. I thought the shipping was a little high, but $239.50 to the door for 4 springs is pretty good I think.

Thats not too bad for the 4 springs with shipping. Try Summit Racing for the rear shocks, 55 each free shipping or at least that is what I paid couple of months ago. I got my OME springs from ALL Js about the same price. Make sure they are the Heavy Duties and if so you will like them. I did the clevis up front also so I think I got more than 2 out of mine maybe closer to 2.5. So excited that I forgot to measure before I tore it all apart.

Thanks PBrug. Unless All J's took their price down, I paid $160 with shipping for just the rear springs. I wish anything I could get alittle more lift out of the front, but with the OME shocks I cant do it. I have one conduit washer in there and almost have UBJC. I guess the rancho front shocks do not droop as much as the OME struts? Do you have any pics of your front suspension at full droop tommudd so I could see your Upper BJ.

You will love the lift Pbrug. Since it doesnt lift it that high, you will not have any problems out of cv joints, UBJC, stressed lower balljoint, none of that crap.

This is my goal. I can't fix anything myself, so any problem will be costly. I want to limit the chance for problems while adding high quality parts to improve my KJ. I think the OME HD / Rancho RSX combo fits the bill. A modest 2" lift is all I need to get me where I need to go. Mostly some old logging roads while hunting, fishing or camping. All while being good on road for the rest of the family.

I did the shipping for the ones on E-Bay to Pittsburgh, PA, and Rusty's deal was still a little better. Plus I'd rather buy from a place like Rusty's, who many on this board say is good to do business with, then someone on E-Bay.

As far as the shocks go, I think the OME rear shocks he's listing for $40/shock are for a lifted KJ. I don't think he is listing any fronts on sale.

A lot of people here use the Rancho RSX 17505 for the front and Rancho RSX 17004 for the rear. This is the route I will take in the future.

Did the coils you purchased from Rusty's give 2 inches of lift? They are not listed as to how much lift you get from them.

Well, I just ordered them the other day and they're scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Being I don't have the $$$ right now to get the shocks, I'll have to wait a little while until I can install. I'm not sure how much lift I'll get. From what I've read you should get at about 2" with the HD springs and Rancho's. I know this is the same set-up many are running in the Rear of their Frankenlifts, and it works well. I'm going to add a 1/4 - 3/8" clevis lift in the front to raise that a little as well.

It's going to be a little while before I'm lifted. But I'll post all the measurements and pics once it is done.

Yeah thats cool i just didnt know how much lift that the springs are rated to give. I have the RRO Budget lift thats roughly 2 inches and was wondering if i could pick up some rear springs that were the same lift size...

I'd say, from my limited knowledge, that would work.

Got my springs today. That's some fast shipping. I ordered them at 1:00 pm on Tuesday and they got here at 5:20 pm today (Thursday). Thumbs up for Rusty's on my first experience dealing with them. Great price, great to deal with on the phone and super fast shipping.

Now I just have to wait patiently to order my shocks. It's killing me already seeing that OME box sitting in the basement.

Haha, I hate that feeling. The stock rear shocks will work fine with the lift. The fronts probably would too, but they would bottom out to much, probably causing them to fail.

If you wanted, you could just get the front shocks and wait on the rear shocks. The stock rear shocks would work just fine, that way you could save some money and get the lift on sooner!! Then, when more money came around, you could just switch the rear shocks out. It doesnt take 10min to do after the tire is off. Ive actually done it with the tire on, but thats alittle tricky.
