My guess is you just misread the dipstick the first time. I will remind you that the the fluid level is checked in park and hot,. There are two (2) sets of holes and the holes closest to bottom should not be used. Also when you add the fluid and it shows full, drive it around the block and then check again. For some reason the Jeep will not show proper chenge level till driven a short distance, it may just need the RPM's up to 2000 for a minute or two.
The engine oil might be leaking out of CAC at the FCV or EGR and finding its way back along the engine and down.
I think you may be right...and I hope you are.
I didn't know that they had even touched the transmission because they couldn't figure out how to "code" the repair for the egr flow control on the paperwork...whatever that means. Anyway, I knew they fixed the egr flow, but didn't know about the transmission fix until I finally got my paperwork sent in the mail and then saw that there was a new gasket on the tranny pan when I was down there changing the oil a few weeks ago. They had originally told me that they could not reproduce the delayed gear engagement issues I was having and found no problem. Apparently they changed their minds and fixed it after all and didn't bother to tell me.
Ever since the jeep was in the shop, it has experienced periodic bouts of jerky shifts around 35 mph. It would come and go....sometimes very jerky. It didn't do that before it was worked on. In retrospect, maybe it has been due to the fact that the ATF was low since they changed the filters out. I swear that I have checked it at least once or twice since then...but maybe I'm dreaming. ...and maybe I misread it. it is kind of hard to read sometimes in my opinion.
I'm going to keep a close eye on the fluid level to make sure it isn't eating it or leaking.
As for the oil leak, I guess I'll have it looked at at some point.
