Ok, I know I have seen this posted somewhere, but I can't find it so I will ask again. I am investigating rails for Bullet and want to know the difference in the rails out there. Are the mopar rails any good? I know All J's are, but I was also looking at the skinks because of the door protection....so I am looking for opinions here. Also, you may need to know that I don't do much rock climbing at all. More woodsy stuff and mud and sand. I am looking to get something to start with and if I need to upgrade in a couple of years so be it.

I love my Carolina Rock Shop Rockrails. They're really tough and my wife uses the slider bars as a step without any problems.

I have the All-J BoulderBars and I love them. However, if I could have the extension like the CRS bar, I'd be in heaven :)

I like the CRS 'step', but I prefer the unbreakable All-J (and Skink) mounting.

I'll second that...............and mine paid for themselves the first day. I banged over all kinds of stuff that I shied away from previously.....and CRS's sliders are a whole lot less expensive, as in their with slider price is the same as others bar only price.

ran with RRO for over a year, used them pretty hard. They are not the strongest design, but they are more than sufficent.

The name Skinks belong to Rock Lizard's bars. OEM Rock Rails, forget it. They can still be destroyed by logs. Did Rocky Road improve on the mounting points like AllJ and Rock Lizard have done?

Tried and True history - All J's Boulder Bars
Solid mounting along with the additional door protection - Rock Lizard's Skink Sliders+

Just my two cents worth.

Read this thread THOROUGHLY as it has very good information about how different rock rails are mounted:

Yeah, they both seem to have different mounting strategies. CRS uses three major supports and no pinch weld bolts. Rock Lizard uses two major supports and many pinch weld bolts. It's too bad there isn't one like the All J Boulderbars that has three major supports and many pinch weld bolts.

Looking at your Cardomain pics and by the above statement, I'd say the Mopar rails would be sufficient. I replaced the side steps with the Mopar rails and they did their job. And you can get matching paint for when they get scraped for about 5 bucks. I picked up mine on Ebay for about half regular price. Some LOST members may have some for sale too.

And they come in silver, just like Bullet.

I dont have any experience with the rails, but here is what I think. I look at the rails not only as underbelly protection for the vehicle but also as side impact protection for me and my family. When I get them they will probably be Skink Sliders or one of the other ones that mount to the frame and pinch weld, and have some sort of extended side protection like step bars or something. If I found some mopar bars super cheap I would get them to hold me over until I saved up some more money, but that is the only reason I would buy them.

Just my .02

I had the OEM ones on my Renny and sold them to upgrade to the Skink Sliders. I can't say what the OEM ones would do on rocks or logs, but they don't extent out for side protection. I took the Skinks to Camp Jeep and ran trail 12 (no lift yet) that had lots of rocks. I came doen on 3 to 4 rocks every trip through (sometimes hard  ) and the Skinks made gravel on the tops of some of those rocks The only issue now is touching up the paint. I am VERY happy with the Skinks. I do wish I had the side tubes on mine (maybe Marty will sell those so I can have them welded on...), but a little dent in the door just shows that Libby is a tom boy not a mall rat!

I see Mr. Mutt is no longer torked at CRS....

i agree,, go with boulderbars or skink sliders, these will support the weight of the whole vehicle(can even be used as a jack point if neccessary when lifted), the mopar ones that came with my renny bent all to hell the first time on a trail.. :(

also, even the moper ones are expensive for what u get, it would be worth saving up to do it right the first time, imho.. :D
