You can actually just play around with the transmission and gears to get the Liberty to accelerate and tow much better. If you have the 45RFE or 5-45RFE transmission, you can replace the torque converter with a built one from APS. This will loose only 12% of the power to the ground instead of the stock 20% for the auto, or 15% for a stock manual. This will do the same thing as adding 8% more power to the motor, so it's like having 228 hp and 255 lbs of torque. You won't actually be making that much power, but you will get the same result to the ground compared to stock. Going from 3.73 gears to 4.10 gears will make it make more torque at lower RPMs. If you do 4.10s only, it will feel like you went from 210 hp to 191 hp, but it will feel like you went from 235 ftlbs to 258 ftlbs of torque. Combine the torque converter and gears, and it feels like 207 hp and 280 ftlbs of torque. Add a good exhaust, a drop in filter, and have B&G flash your computer, and everyone will swear you've squeezed a V8 under the hood.
How many libbys have the 45rfe though?
Ohh, kjfishman, our libby gets its torque at 4200rpm, not much less. I hit those rpms about once a week. I try to aim for 3k max when driving.
