Since then I have replaced both lower ball joints once, the right shock once, have had at least 3 more alignments at different locations to see if they could get it in line and they could not. I just picked up my KJ at the dealership (different one this time) again after having more work done to it. This time it was both lowers 1 upper ball joint and both springs and shocks. I have called Rustys several times over the past 8-10 months and all he says is that they have sold over 200 spacer lifts and that its not there problem if i cant get it to work right on my jeep. I asked if he had any advice to fix it and he said," we have sold over 200 of these kits and your the only one that seams to have problems with it." This is not the way to treat customers if he expects to have them come back for more products. As for me, I will never buy amother product from him and I suggest you do the same.

Let's break this down:

1. Lower Ball Joints - not the lifts fault - blame Daimler/Chrysler
2. Alignment problems - could be the places you took you r KJ to. Many people have had issues getting their alignments correct after lifting. Usually the shops have no clue how to adjust a lifted KJ.
3. Just because the dealership installed the lift, doesn't mean it was installed correctly. Look at all of the problems people on here have had with dealerships.
4. Most of the problems occur from other shops doing the work or just faulty components.
5. The shocks going bad - that is something to look at
6. The springs going bad - stock springs are not Rusty's fault. Blame D/C
7. Upper ball joint - unknown.

Other than the shocks, I didn't see anything that really is Rusty's fault. I would be more inclined to blame D/C, the dealership, and the other shops.

If he would of at least attempted to help me out with the situation, give some advice, anything, I would show my gratitude, however, he decided to dismiss this whole thing and that is what angers me. I understand that DC went cheap on some of the components in the KJ and over time will be replacing them with stronger, aftermarket parts. I have been lucky, so far everything has been fixed under warranty( minus the allignments). My main concern, and my reason for posting this messege the way i did, is that if other members do buy a product of his that they run the risk of being left to fix the problem with no help from from Rustys Offroad.

O.K here is the thing......I thought a .75" spacer would net about 1.5" or something of lift. And along with a small Clevis lift, I would be right at 2" to keep things level. The problem is that I have a CRD otherwise I would have ordered the front springs too. Should I have ordered the rusty's top plate too? Or will my .75 spacer and a clevis lift do the trick? I guess I should have asked before I made the order but I thought It would work out after reading a bunch of the lift threads. Shoot, in the $25 lift thread he said 1/2 inch clevis netted almost 1.5" of lift........At least I think that is what I read.......... O.K, more feedback wanted please......

Most aftermarket performance parts & custom parts "do not come with warranty" that's life. I have almost $5,000 in the engine I built for my Camaro, I think the longest warranty on any of the parts was 90 days.

I would have to agree with Tokyojoe, I don't beleave that the problems you had were the lifts fault.

As far as Rustys people & tech support, I have always had great service from them. They have always been very good answering any ?'s that I have had.

I am very sorry that your experiance with Rustys was bad, but I would have to agree with them that it's not the lift. If you really are the first one to have these problems with the lift they probably just don't know what to tell you.

So what are we saying? It's my understanding that Rocky Road, Rusty's and now Teraflex are using the same front spacer. Are we saying Rocky Road's is a POS but Rusty's and maybe even Teraflex's is OK? WTFO? Either that method of lifting the KJ creates problems or it doesn't. Make up your mind. Don't blackball one company and bendover for another. Overtime, you'll get mixed reviews on every company. Skyjacker used to get dinged all the time for some of the same problems I and others experience with the highly coveted Frankenlift. Judge for yourself. Some are better quality, some are more economic, some have better customer service, and just about all of them have their own unique quirk or quirks.

That was kind of my point. I have heard alot of people say a lot of bad things about "spacer lifts" like Rustys & RRO.

I have not had any problems with mine, but we don't use it for really hard wheeling, because you can damage the struts if you bottem the front hard.

So we don't hit jumps at 40mph in it, That's what our XJ is for.

It sounds like a couple of those issues could be fixed with Jeepinals upper a-arms. The alingment issues and the ball joint issues. As far as taking your stuff to the Dealer. If you don't know what you are talking about than it seems that most of the time they will take advantage of the situation.

You should be just fine. The cool thing about the clevis lift, you can lift it anywhere between .0001in-1in.

I know this is off topic, but where on earth are you fitting 9.5 quarts? My engine only holds 5.

For roughly the past 3 years we L.O.S.T. members have been posting repeated WARNINGS about OTT style spacer lift kits.
So, after repeated warnings, why did you go out and purchase one???
I'd say you have to learn to heed warnings!

I hope that all the dealership repairs were covered under warranty, because if you paid out of pocket, you have only yourself to blame for not ridding yourself of that front OTT style spacer and replacing it with something better.

Let me just say that with 9.5qts of oil in the motor it was sucking it up into the emissions system, and smokeing like a diesel. I'm assuming that the oil was up to or over the crankshaft. Good thing we only live about 20 miles from the dealer that did it (HR C.D.J.) and fixed the problem before any damage was done. The 3.7L can take alot of abuse.

I did NOT drive it back the 20 miles to them to drain the oil, but I did take the full 9.5qts back to them later and to have the emissions system cleaned out & the air filter changed (sucked oil). Got my money back for the oil change too.

Yes, it is my fault for buying this lift instead of saving up for a better one. My point of this complaint was not about the lift it was the way that the situation was handled by Rustys.

I don't know what was said when you called Rusty's, but , think for just a second,,

were you in a pleasant mood when you called, or did you start ripping on the first one that answered the phone..

Whenever I call someone to complain about anything I try to SMILE as I am talking to them,
They can't see me smile, but it changes the tone of my voice,
(I can have a nasty tone if I don't smile..:)

When I started reading this post, my first thought was "Are you meaning to say Rusty's or Rocky Road", because that sounds like the standard answer from Rocky Road..

Sorry about your negative experience.

I have only bought from Rustys on one occasion. I purchased the OME HD front and rear springs. When I called to order the gentleman I spoke to (Greg I think) was great, the price was really great and the shipping was super fast. From my personal experience I would buy from them again in a minute. I guess everyone has different experiences.
