OK, I am geting ready to do my first mod ever to my Jeep tomorrow and just want to get some final input. Who all has the Rock Lizard Skink Step Sliders and how happy have you been so far (especially in comparison to the Boulder Bars). Hopefully ordering those this weekend and my skids next weekend with that paycheck. Then I'm ready to go wheelin'! :D

I don't have the step sliders but I have the standard skink sliders (prototype). Love it. I can not compare them to All J's Boulder Bars since I never had them. You may not find anyone that had AllJ BB's and switched to Skinks. If there is someone that has, I would be extremely surprised.

BB's are great from what everyone that has them, have said....but so are the Skinks.

I have had a missing frame bolt on one side and a stripped one on the other side (both my fault- drilled hole too big) and I have landed and slid on mine at Moab and in the Rocky Mountains with no issues. One day I'll work on those two self-made issues.

I have seen both on the vehicle and in action and I will say they both look and work great. As much as I love BB's and support most everything they (ALL J) do, I gotta say it was about dang time someone built something as good as Boulderbars. Thanks Rock Lizard!
All J and Rock Lizard are some awesome companies that are doing a great job working with the KJ community and supporting lost. I wouldn't hesitate to do business w/ either of them, they are deserving of our support.

I'm really liking the step sliders and how they stick out a little bit. Plus, they're $50 less than the Boulder Bars.

Though I have the prototype, I may add the additional door protection to mine. One of the trails, I got awfully close to my door with the lean.

I believe you can use a highlift with all of them. Thats another reason everyone likes them so much.

My old HiLift works fine on the Skink sliders. Don't know if there is a design difference in the last 20 years or so.

Well. I changed my mind and decided that I was going to get the standard ones. I'm not a huge fan of the exposed bolts shown on the step sliders. But, unfortunately, I just tried to call and order them and they appear to be closed for the weekend. :(

What do you mean by exposed bolts? The extension is welded on...unless there was a sudden change recently. Are you talking about the pinch weld bolts?

The Skinks have no exposed bolts. TokyoJoe is correct, it's all welded on. The Skinks sit VERY close to the body, all bolts are behind the Skink slider where you can't see them unless you are underneath looking up.

I believe what he is talking about are the pinch seam bolts that you can see if you had the step sliders. They aren't as visible with the standard and super sliders since the main slider is tucked up close to the rocker panel.
