Idk if the tranny skid will work with the different cross member. (02's have different tranny.
Didn't they switch in 03?
Mine is an 03 and has the 45RFE transmission. The fuel tank and transfer skid fit but the other 2 skids I have not mounted yet cuz they don't look right.

Your lucky, they did it in the beginning of 03.

By the way, I greatly appreciate the input. I was utterly confused before this thread. The skids are coming in the next few weeks and should get here at about the same time as my Skink Sliders. I'm breaking the bank a little more than I planned, but I guess thats owning a Jeep.

Breaking the bank is what owning a jeep is all about.

I was under my jeep for some reason yesterday and noticed I have over 1-1.5in of clearance between the tranny skid and the exhaust pipe. Wonder what they changed and why? :?

I am not entirely clear myself just yet..

Are there different part numbers for the engine and trans skid for an 02, were any of the 02's available with those skids or if 03's with the 42 trans was the first year for skids then gas powered 45 trans owners need to modify to make whats available fit?

Which ones did you order for your 02?

I am not 100% maby more like 85% but the only skids that have the same PN from '02-'05 were the engine skid (front most skid) and the fuel tank skid
(rear most skid) I know that the T case skid changed but I do not know in what year and the trans skid was not available until '04 I think but maby '05

If they have a differant PN they will not cross over you will need to modify something
I cannot say if it will be hard or easy but I do know that for no matter how cheep trans skid is the pain that you need to do through along with the fact that they will not last long off road I would just save $100 a month for 3 month's and by the All J's skid or if that is to much $$ for you ,like me, you can build your own for about $100 in materials and another $50-$75 for the welding but you will need to do some cutting ,grinding, and drilling if some real big holes
It is not easy and if you don't have a 1/2" drill dont even try you will also need a oxy/aceteline torch to cut with and a good bit of free time with the jeep on jack stands

The word I got from the Dealer is engine, transfer and tank skids fit 02-06's.
04-06 Transmission skid is number #82210003 and does not fit the 02-03's

No trans skid is available for the 02-03's

that sounds correct I don't know PN's but the trans for '04-'06 sounds right

This is what I did to save money and get a skid that would hold up to some moderate wheeling

Image

if you see in the pic I had to cut down the side support to clear the pipe
on the inside it has another pcs that is cut to clear as well
the total cost was about $150 and I had to drill all the holes but I think that it ws worth it
