Old Navy, where do you find 49 Certane?
We have a retailer called MFA Oil that has gone into BioDiesel a few years back, and now have started a couple of biodiesel plants in MO. These plants if I remember correctly will produce about 3 million gallons a year of B100, one of which will be about 30 miles from my house. I suppose they will do the same as they do now and blend the B100 with D2 as per individual retailer's wishes, such as one station may want to sell B10 and straight D2, where another station may choose to sell D2, B20 and B100 to it buyers. I was told they they buy 46 cetane fuel and use a cetane booster made from soy to average 49 cetane. I had one sample tested about 4 years ago and was 51 cetane, water free and the tester commented on how clean the fuel was on the report.

Thanks, now I know why you're getting 30 MPG!

There is definately something positive happening when using a light biodiesel mix in the CRD. Old Navy is on the mark with this. Only speculative but probably the cetane boost of the biodiesel is more of a factor than the biodiesel as the fuel per se. Still don't know how he is getting 30 out of a CRD, find a good tail wind an put up a sail?

According to an old thread: Old Navy's driving habbits are also a factor. I think he has his fun with the Magnum!

You got it dude. You haven't lived till you have had your 2 ton station wagon in a power slide in the Ozark Hill's where often the Magnum's rear end is being met by the front end going around those curves. It may be a heavy weight, but with a 50/50 weight distrubution and huge brakes that have very little fade, one can make a BMW work to stay in front.

The wife's Liberty made one long road trip of 1400+ miles to MI and back with the best mileage going up to MI at 33 almost 34 mpg, coming back on 42 (?) cetane BP B20 fuel, it was down to about 27/28 mpg the best I remember and I drove faster. The CRD averages a steady 22/23 MPG here in town doing short trips and lot of stop & go and unnecessary idling. The Magnum driven same style in town will average about the same, 21/22 MPG, unless you be letting the big girl howl to often. With gas down to about $2.35 a gallon I am letting the Magnum get some miles on her, and plan another run through the Ozark Hill's this week.

Drove the CRD today after installing the V6 airbox. Could not believe the difference. Makes my libby run like a cat with a hot coal on its tail. It really scoots. Don't knew what affect this will have on MPG, but I doubt it will hurt. Well worth the $100 dollars and 1/2 hour of work involved.

Did you also install the baffle plate that keeps water from washing into the air snorkle entry durring water fording at or near that water elevation of the intake???

How about a picture? I'm still on the fence on this, but I've located a complete assembly at a local junkyard for $95 (airbox, snorkle and baffle plate).

After reading this thread yesterday, I went home and looked at my roommate's V6 airbox under the hood. There is also a molded foam piece that attaches to the under side of the hood...it seals against the top and sides of the snorkel when the hood is closed. I'm guessing it is to keep the intake from sucking engine compartment air instead of fresh outside air.

FYI - Used auto part search engines

http://car-part.com/
http://www.autopartsearch.com/index.htm

you do have to call and verify - they don't update the computer realtime
