i have an '05 CRD sport with about 3600 miles on it. this is my first diesel and im away on a tdy, it has been about 6 weeks and im wondering if i should have done any prep before i left it in the parking lot. nobody has started it or anything since i left, its just sittin in the parking lot waiting for me to come home. just curious if i should have anything to expect when i come home. thanks in advance... jeff

My recommendation would have been to put a fuel stabilizer/anti microbial in it to keep the fuel good. I would have also pulled the battery and put it on a trickle charger while I was gone. My .02.

How much longer is it going to sit? It's already been 6 weeks...

Depends on how long you'll be gone. If you'll be back Monday morning, shouldn't be a problem. If you'll be gone for several months more, expect a flat dead battery, as there's enough small draw going on to drain the charge with time, and you should have put a battery minder on it. If you're gone long enough, a full tank, fuel stabilizer, anti-microbial agent, up-on-blocks-to-prevent-flat-spots would have been needed, too.

Since it's fairly new and has pretty low miles, I wouldn't worry about it. I would not do that regularly without taking some of the pre-cautions others have mentioned here - but for one time - it sits that way on the dealers lot for weeks/months at a time when being sold and re-sold as a pre-owned .... dont fret. If its going to be sitting for a much longer time than the current six weeks - fed ex the key to a close friend or family member and let them start using it once a week.

I've got a couple of those VW solar panels to keep the batteries up on the vehicles we dont use often so far they have worked like a charm. Just need to make sure the lighter socket is always on. Which I think it is on the liberty.
