asked again about the LBJ recall. Again, I was told they are doing it by year starting with '02. I asked the service guy if they have the new ones in stock yet and he said yes but he can't install them on my Liberty because is is an '05!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you believe that crap!! So, if my ball joints go, hmm, I think my man here at the dealership will be SCREWED! Sorry, just venting. It's like it's so close yet so far.... :x

That is crap but I can understand it also. I mean we have to look out for the guys that have had there Libertys the longest I mean I am sure there are some 02's out there with some pretty bad LBJ.

If you're close to the dealer again - you should at least have them measure the wear on your balljoints - the service manual calls for a max 1.5mm of travel. If they're within that spec you should at least have confidence driving until you get new ones.
Remember there are still some 02's driving around on original ball joints - they don't all fail, and they don't fail sooner because the recall was issued. The original reports said 111 reports of failure out of 800,000 Liberties, that's high for a preventable problem, but it's far from certain failure for the ones still on the road.

My Liberty is still on it's original joints... I am eagerly awaiting my recall card so I can get these things replaced!

My '05 gets dropped off at 9:00 for the recall, so someone is jerking you around. All I did was call my dealer, tell them I wanted the recall performed, and schedule the repair time. No card, no hassle, no nuttin'.....

Crap! I got to have it there in 6 hours! Time to hit the hay..........

I asked dealer yesterday because I took mine for a different reason.... he said, "as long as you brought it in, we'll go ahead and do the LBJs recall.... you don't want to wait till the crowds start coming in"
So, there is no such a thing about waiting for your model year to have it serviced under the recall.

Great. They're probably just telling me that because I'm a girl and chances are I don't know what I'm talking about. Should've had my boyfriend go with me. Oh well, the Lib hasn't been making any strange noises so I guess I don't have to worry yet. :?

I think we forget this and assume that our Libby's are gonna fail at any moment. Thanks for the reminder. Safety is serious business but we need to put it in the proper prespective.

I got lucky. I had my 06 CRD in yesterday to get somthing else fixed. When I brought it in they told me it could be months until I get them. The said GM is only sending so many ball joint kits to them. However, I was called 4 hours later and they said they got 1 more kit than expected today and decitied to install it on my call.

It has to be a dealer specific thing. I called my dealer last week and scheduled the LBJ replacement on my '05 Limited and they replaced them yesterday. No questions asked, in and out in about 3 hours.
