Thats the problem, it takes someone being hurt or killed before some people wise up and realize their stupidity. If some idiot driving 100 mph hurts or kills one of my family members they better hope they die too or so help me they will wish they did. That how I feel and could care less if anyone likes it.

I got mine up to 80 the other day and it was kinda scary with the A/T's and all. It started shaking since the balance if off on them. I took it back down to 72 and set the cruise. :) I think its been up to 85 once when I was racing a stock S-10 ZR2. Those trucks are so slow.

Just wait.

I'm gonna have to relearn my right foot if/when we move to Raleigh, NC. The posted speed limit signs in town are: 25mph and 35mph. Highways: 45 - 55mph. Freeways: 65mph. And, folks actually drive those speed, too

My socal right foot is gonna have to learn to lighten up :)

You guys are crazy....the fastest i've went was like 85mph on the freeway. And it shook like crazy. I usually keep it around 70-75mph max. I guess I don't feel like wrecking my Libby and umm....dieing??

Thats the top speed where I live too. I usually drive around 65, but since Kentucky is "turning up the heat," Ive slowed down alittle. :? Its 65 where Im now, but this isnt home.

So far I don't dare put that kind of rpm on the little CRD....got to break it in first....
But I feel left out, so I'll share these :P
The XJ hit about 110mph a couple times, but with 6-7" and 33's it was a HANDFUL.
The Miata loves 110-120mph and hit 130+ on the salt flats....not sure of the exact speed, didn't dare glance down.
The truck has hit 110+ (I think, pegs at 95) with the 35's on it, but only when I wasn't paying attention....Keeping a foot in it the turbo builds speed before you know it....I let off real fast!!

My experience with most modern ECM's is the defuel based on RPM not on speed. Any programer can change or remove it, but it is a liability on their part.

I've been on Michigan highways... My Libby shakes at 70 up there too... :P Down here, she's smooth all the way to 90. :D

It shouldn't "shake like crazy" unless you have something that needs to be taken care of. Maybe the tires need to be balanced? You got dried mud in there somewhere?

I pushed mine up to 105-ish once on an empty stretch of freeway between Arizona and California border. That was about it. Didn't shake at all, but there was an aweful lot of noise from roof rack though.

Imagine how much force is being applied to that roof rack. Even if it is somewhat aerodynamic, it would still be alot. Just think of the force on the grill and windshield. I would love to know how many psi is being applied to all that.

I agree with JJ.
Have fun and be safe. And when you're not...you better not be near anyone else. If you do something dumb and kill yourself, fine. If you take other with you, you deserve to rot. Just my happy 2 cents.

And I'd like it if spike strips shot up when the light turned red.

As a 17 year old I was obligated to go on a top speed run once in the liberty  on an open stretch of highway in the middle of nowhere PA. I had the gas almost through the floorboard for quite some time and once it hit 105 it bounced back to 101 (a scary jolt at that speed). That was possibly the dumbest thing I've ever done, and probably everyone else that has had a similar experience, because no matter how good of a driver you are (or think you are), the liberty is simply not safe at high speeds.

Hopefully after I graduate I'll get an audi or bmw or something, but until then its under 90 for me 8)

If memory serves me correctly, mine would drop off somewhere around 115 mph with the stock computer. It's still pulling hard at 120 mph now, and it hits the top of 3rd at about 130 mph.

Fastest I've ever gone is 80 on mph (which has a speed limit of 75). I know that Jeeps arent built for speed, plus I try to stay away from speeds that could get me busted for "Criminal Speeding."

About 0.27 psi a 90mph for a completely flat perpendicular object.

Or an average of .12 psi on the Jeep cruising at 90mph, assuming a drag coefficient of .42

Doesnt seem like a lot, but remember there are 144 square inches in one square foot so it adds up quickly.

Where do you guys go to get so fast (in the 100s)? I could only even think about that speed on the highway, which is usually swarming with the state patrol  The backroads here scare me in the Liberty at 80 mph, even before I got a lift or m/t tires.

:!: Someone should put a V8 in a KJ. 5.9L out of an ZJ, anyone?
